"We had a great experience at Wabasha hospital. We are from out of town, our little one was very sick and needed immediate medical intervention. The staff here was so nice and made or stressful stay comfortable and they accommodated for my teenage daughter whom came with us. I feel the doctors, nurses as well as Xray tech did a fantastic job in talking to us and really making our daughter feel comfortable with them. They explained our treatment plan. As a mother of a very sick child I'm extremely picky and selective of where I bring my little girl. I highly reccomend this hospital and their staff."
"I was a client of the clinic for many years. In 2006 an employee put a made up Medicare number in my medical profile. None of my referrals have been paid for since 2006. I've tried several times to contact them but I never got a single call back. My medical help was absolutely sabatoged by this clinic. They only care about money, not patient care."
"BUYER BEWARE! As mentioned by other reviewers, the billing practices here are appalling. My doctor referred me to the Physical Therapy department. I've had PT at other hospital-based facilities in other parts of the country and its ALWAYS a $50 copay. For 2 one-hour PT visits at Gundersen St. Elizabeth's, I was billed $821. After many rounds with a guy in the billing department and with my insurance company, I made zero progress. According to my insurance, the exorbitant amount was due to Gundersen coding my PT visit as "Outpatient Hospital" rather than "Office Visit." Gundersen refused to change the coding, saying that they would be committing fraud if they did. Hmmm ... funny how all the other hospital-based physical therapists seem to be able to bill visits as office visits. I've never heard of a PT visit being considered Outpatient Hospital. My shoulder surgery with anesthesia was outpatient, as were my husband's two cataract surgeries. None of those procedures cost us as much out of pocket as 2 simple PT visits. What's crazier still is that for a 1 hour PT visit, my before-insurance charges included $207 for the evaluation, $136 for 15 minutes spent on one activity, and another $156 for 15 minutes spent explaining how I should follow up at home. That's a total of $499 for a one-hour appointment. Seriously?! Out-of-pocket charges for PT in Florida, WITHOUT ANY INSURANCE is a fraction of that. It's a shame the billing department here is so shady, because the actual PT provider I saw was very good (the only reason this isn't a 1 star review). I learned my lesson the hard way at Gundersen - never schedule ANYTHING without getting the cost upfront. Or, better yet, get all of my medical needs taken care of during the 6 months of the year we're in Florida and just never use Gundersen again."
"Had a broken collarbone while on vacation. The staff was excellent, and I received really thorough care. Kathryn Boysen was my nurse and was compassionate and caring. Mel was the X-ray technician and had a great sense of humor. She was very gentle and took great care of me. I was most impressed with Dr Paul Nystrom. He genuinely cares. He was very straightforward, sympathetic and an all-around good doctor. He studied my x-rays and recommended a CAT scan because he thought there might be more going on than the x-ray showed. I was very happy to have him as my doctor and I just feel like I had really great care there. I was nervous about going to an out of state hospital, but they did an outstanding job!"
"My first visit at this location. everyone that I dealt with at my visit today was exceptional. Check in was quick, I sat maybe 2 minutes before being called back. My nurse, Melissa, was so kind, very friendly, and thorough. She made sure to explain to me everything she was doing in the computer instead of clacking away on the keyboard. My Doctor, Dr. Hust, was just as inviting and welcoming. For the first time, I felt like I was being heard by a doctor. She didn't try to rush me out and asked in depth questions to try to get to the source of my issues. Even the gal who did my bloodwork was very kind and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. She was quick and made the process easy!"
