"Great camp and lake. Dorm was nice with bunks."
"I went to a retreat with my Friends of 50 plus years, we had a ball and it was absolutely awesome what a beautiful sight great soft bedding, clean spacious great kitchen area, we brought our own food looked out for one another and right across the way was another building that served us beautiful breakfast and lunch, it was delicious and we had a great time from Friday to Sunday. Her church did an awesome job, I was glad that I paid my money and went."
"First time as adult volunteer during 4 day, 3 night Camp. Lots of lodging options. From small to large. Comfortable. Some with AC some without. just (barely) enough bathrooms for large groups of kids. plenty of meeting space in the lodging buildings. Truth be told our camp was first of season, so the facility was still prepping for the summer season. Because of that, things were not as smooth as they could have been. example, understaffed for life guards. ladders for swimming were not installed early on. Not a giant deal, but mentioned to be thorough. Meals were tasty and varied. portion were medium sized, but that was A-OK. Adult and counselors are a big help to keep order during meal time with 100+ kids. Maybe it was by design/choice for our camp, but no desert (cookie, brownies, etc) during meals. Youth Camps are all about meeting spaces and activities. plenty of indoor meeting places. For large group, a healthy measure of creativity will be needed to plan for indoor activities in case of rain. Options seems limited. Exterior activities. canoeing. swimming (being honest, two campers of 100+ got a leech attached). High ropes (awesome). Flying squirrel (awesome). Archery ( short range). Rock climbing wall with zip line (awesome). multiple Gaga ball courts. baseball/softball/kickball diamond. All in all I'll grade a B. I've attend camps with less, and camps with more (Lazer tag, better frisbee golf, assorted water or tube slides) Property. Huge. lots of space. lots of potential. (being honest). we came during gypsy moth (caterpillar stage) season. and frankly it's an epidemic infestation. it wasn't a huge deal, but for the squeemish it could be issue. All in all. I'll say this. it's still two thumbs up. it has potential for their mgmt to really make it premiere with a few tweeks. Hope we return next year"
"Two words - HIGH ROPES - Interesting place. Looks like a great summer bible camp for kids. The place has multiple types of guests from corporate groups, to high schoolers through middle school. Decent location, if you are a foodie - don't even attempt to attend. The chiefs make kid comfort food. Potatoes are big (they are cheap and filling). Our rooms on the upper level of our chalet had A/C which was nice. Expect 3 to 4 to a room and common area bathrooms for each gender. Team building and critical thinking are the main point for older campers. Enjoy the problem solving and the high ropes courses, and I do mean high. Challenges builds character and trust. Check it out if you live near Chicago or Milwaukee."
