California Ear Nose & Throat

"AVOID this place if you can find another ENT. The people that work here are unsanitary. I have nasal polyps, and this Dr. put a long camera in my mouth and then took that same camera to put it in my nose, then ear. And when it was over I noticed neither the nurse or Dr. had gloves on. Thank god the camera was so long he did not touch my face with his dirty hands. Besides that my appt. was at 9 am, and didn't get into a room until 10:10. The 2 girls in the front didn't say anything about why it was taking so long. Then they saw a patient that came after me, first. The nurse lied to my face and said his appt. was at 9, but, I saw that same guy come in at 9:30 saying that his appt. was at 9:45. I been in pain for 2 years so I needed this referral for a CT, but, like I said if you can hold off, try to find another ENT."

"I went to see him in February 2022. After 2 seconds of meeting me, he said he already knew what I had. He didn’t examine me or ask questions to try to understand my symptoms. He said all I had was tension and anxiety due to stress. That I could do a ct scan but nothing would show up, because I was pretty much crazy. Well, I went to a different doctor and had a ct scan done and I have a Maxillary Sinus Cyst. That was the first and only time I ever saw him and I would never go back!"

"Nothing but extreme professionalism w/ the entire staff. They are always friendly and treat me like family. All my symptoms are always explained in great detail. My doctor is one of the best I've seen! I always leave w/ knowledge of where my situations stand. I trust him and his staff."

"I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone. :( Dr. Gerard J. Carvalho is not a pleasant doctor to interact with. I witnessed him being short and rude with one of his elderly male patients. The patient wanted to verify the doctor's instruction and the doctor must have been annoyed by this and was clearly rude towards the man. I could hear and see this from the waiting area (since the door to the patient's room was wide open). I also had to wait over an hour and half just to be seen. I can tell the other clients who arrived before me were also annoyed by the wait. (I heard many people huffing and sliding around in their chairs.) When it was my turn, the doctor was combative and didn't care to listen to my medical problem. He was upset because I didn't have records from over five years ago. (If I were told to acquire them, which I didn't need for him to just look at my nose, I would have contacted my old doc.) He told me, sarcastically that it was my life. I cannot believe a doctor could be that rude! His assistant was even uncomfortable by his behavior and put her head down as he was behaving that way! He ended putting a camera up my nose and said my nose was just fine. I don't know why he was so nasty to begin with maybe he was hungry for lunch and/or still annoyed by his last patient, but I will not come back! The wait and the doctor made this experience horrible. He should retire, schedule less patients, or do yoga. Also, his hands were very chapped and pealing. Not a good look for a doctor specializing in allergies."
