"I'm astounded that this complex is able to request rent to live here. First thing first: the images on Yelp or even other sites are their renovated apartments. Meaning updating the furnishing and newer appliances - it changes NOTHING about the quality of living. Our stay has been absolutely horrendous. The cost is not that competitive, and lower-priced units are their "original" unit (meaning not renovated). My first horrible experience was at move-in. I was coming from a different area, and they have a "model" unit for tours (pre-COVID). Red flag. The unit we wanted wasn't available at the time of putting down our deposit, and we was told we would be able to see it prior to move-in. I fully expected we would be contacted for a walkthrough - we were not. Day 1 was the day we got keys. Then, they do "self" inspections, which took over a week for maintenance to address the issues - some were never fixed. We still have windows that do not latch. We weren't provided a maintenance number or the number for complaints, either. I had to find those from an obscure website. Their method of notice is a note on the door and an email (which we found does not go out to all the residents). If the following things are important to you please stay FAR away: 1. It's important that you not hear your neighbors. We can hear normal voice-level conversations from ALL surrounding units. The unit below, as well as the unit across the hall. I could hear our downstairs neighbors yawning on their couch, as well as snoring, every night which used to keep us up every night. There is little to zero weatherstripping or insulation, so we can hear all the noises outside the apartment, too. There are several children that run and scream freely around the complex, with no supervision. People make phone calls at all hours of the day and wander the property talking, even though there are quiet times from 10pm-8am - not enforced. The property is built on a wood frame, which we learned that the hard way from nw downstairs neighbors. They came with running toddlers. Earplugs do NOTHING to help with the WALLS SHAKING or FEELING the disruptions. The residents downstairs told us to "stomp on the floor," their ceiling, when the kids were being rowdy, because it startles them. (How about just teach your children to be considerate?) The true issue is the shoddy construction. I shouldn't be able to hear people WALKING around their separate (downstairs!) apartment unit. 2. There is zero insulation. Temperature control is impossible. Summers are blistering and winters are (California) cold. The heaters in the bedrooms are slow and ineffective, and the central heating is only great when sitting right next to it. We had to buy our own AC's, because there's only 1 ceiling fan, in the dining area. 3 You are looking to rent a non-smoking unit. There are many people that simply step outside their front doors, smoke, and leave cigarette butts around. One resident even has an ashtray outside their door and doesn't make any qualms to stop. There are high stairwells that have no ventilation, and with the previously indicated missing weatherstripping, the smoke carries and stays stagnant in our upstairs apartment. It is even in the lease agreement that the property is non-smoking, however clearly, that's not upheld. When this was reported, the office did nothing. 4. You want the place to be well-maintained. Lights in corridors remain burnt out and unchanged since we first moved in. The only maintenance that IS consistent is the leaf-blowers and grass cutters (unclear if they're actual mowers) that arrive 7-8am on Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays, staying a couple of hours. 5. Parking is ABYSMAL. The lots for residents are tiny, and guest parking is embarrassingly scarce. Not only do residents park in those for weeks on end, the office will then tow people in those spaces without any notice to the owners - even though the office requires all residents to provide their vehicle info with their application. If you've still decided "it will be fine," then at least you were warned."
