"**Make sure you check all the appliances are working before you move-in because it is very hard to get them fixed afterwards!** ---- Update 3: Deborah(The Property Director) responded promptly with an email right my review and sent a maintenance guy on the following day and after. However, after we've been taking every morning off for the whole week for these maintenance visits, our dishwasher just quickly broke after they claimed it was fix within the same day and keep making leakage onto the floors Every Single Day. We are quite concerned that our wood floor is going to get seriously damaged with the current dishwasher situation. It is also a big waste of our time and inconvenience to our lives as we have to hand wash everything and clean the leakage on the floor. At this point, we just wish to get a new dishwasher and get over with it. ---- Update 2: Dishwasher broke again after 1 brief cycle of wash. It leaked and made another big mess on the floor. On top of the broken appliances, our insinkerator broke as well:( _____ Update 1: They came fix the dishwasher, and we finally have a functioning dishwasher! -------- Original post: We haven't had the best experience since move-in. We love the apt itself but many things were broken and front office is full of excuses and give the attitude that they cannot care less and make we almost feel like we have to be begging in order for them to do anything. Things were broken since move-in: 1. Filthy still water sitting in the bottom of the washer, it was full of mud and black mold in the rubber seal and washer simply won't drain. 2. Broken dishwasher that would go for 10+ hours yet not washing the dishes. 3. Broken latch and small holes on the screen door. 4. Wrong old mail keys and they ordered new mail keys and sent to wrong people. It is very difficult to get a hold of the front office to get things fixed. Front office don't pick up our calls half of the time. And for the other half of the time when they do, the two front office ladies either tell us they will call back shortly or someone will come fix it the next day... We have been raising these issues since day 1 where the front office promised us they would put in a maintenance order for us. Yet It's been over a week, after dialing numerous calls to the office, sending maintenance requests within the app, making several trips to the office in person, and long waits at home for the maintenance worker to come, nothing has been fixed and it is frustrating. (P.S.: At parallel, there is no front office, ShadowBrook covers Parallel apt, and it definitely feels like we are treated as secondary citizens. Front office don't really pick up our call and won't address the maintenance request in a responsive manner. **If you really want things to be fixed, you have to go to the leasing office In-Person and raise the complaints there for multiple times, and then they might send maintenance later, maybe. But maintenance most likely won't fix things in one go and then you have to repeat the whole cycle to try to get things fixed, and it just keep dragging on..."
"almost anything you need is within 15 minutes. downtown sunnyvale, cupertino main street, whatever grocery store you like, and some of the best food in the bay area. this review isn’t about that. the interior and exterior are nicely done. no major bug problems. concrete walls. gas range. in unit w/d. no one living above or below you. the office people are generally nice. maintenance is generally quick to resolve problems. but god help you if you ever need to contact anyone over the phone. over the past year i’ve left so many unanswered voicemails and emails and had to walk into the office to get a face to face response. and even then sometimes you have to follow up again. it’s associated with shadowbrook which means you have access to their pool and fitness center, but it’s still a little too inconvenient to feel like an apartment that actually has those. our washer malfunctioned twice in a year. maybe bad luck, maybe not, i don’t know. the refrigerator’s water dispenser is inside the door. that was weird. 550ish square feet. there are probably better apartments in the ~$3000 price range."
"Zero star for this place Do not rent before you tour the apartment otherwise you ended up losing your deposit Put deposit on 720sqft apartment and put move-in date specified per Parallel requirement otherwise the rent increase horribly However, the apartment cannot be tour before move in Two days before move-in, I asked (almost bagging) to tour the apartment. Office kept changing the tour time/day. And did not have the courtesy to inform me a day before but 30min before scheduled tour day/time Toured the apartment and found it unlivable with leaking toilet, peeling paint, broken and rotten smell fridge, tall weed in patio, broken bedroom window screen... Also patio has a backdoor without latch that anyone can enter First it's hard to imaging the apartment is not ready two days before move in Second, the move in date was per their requirement, not from my choice. Since the office insisted on the move in date for apartment under such condition, i gave up my deposit and look for somewhere else"
"Fantastic apartments! So Californian with tall palms all around. This place keeps getting better. I “discovered” Parallel while visiting various Prometheus apartment communities. The interior is renovated and modern. Wooden flooring is sleek and the balcony is huge! I wanted a place that was strategically located not far from Palo Alto but offering a quiet, stylish spot with a reasonable price tag. The square footage is not for everyone and it’s time limited in this regard but I just love the care given to this property and modern decor. Maricel gets special recognition for her above-and-beyond customer service to getting my application underway. Maricel is kind, engaging, sincere, quick, and respectful. She has a lot of patience and embraces my many questions. She sealed the deal for me! Definitely consider this unique location."
"Great location near El Camino Real. Single-floor apartment design pretty much eliminates any noise problem from upstairs, and the layout of the house is quite well thought out. The staff have been tremendously helpful and patient through the entire process from tour to the signing of the lease. Update: I have been living here for a couple of years now, and the staff have been prompt in addressing any concerns. I have had many guests over the years, and they always first comment how nice and unique the public hangout space is and then compliment how cozy and functional inside of the house is. If you value functionality, good location, and responsive staff, Parallel Apartment is a good fit for you."
