"Tucked in the busy downtown of St. Paul near Children's Hospital, Hope Breakfast Bar provides a big punch in a small package. Restaurant was previously a fire station that has been reworked into a small eatery. Space is pretty tight, and seating is limited, so reservations are a must. We chowed down on the Bacon tacos, pillow pancakes, monkey pancakes, and the aptly named McHope sandwich. Custom lemonade, coffees, and adult beverages round out this hearty menu. Make sure you come with an empty stomach because portions are filling. Fantastic service and amazing food will keep bringing us back to this amazing stop."
"What a phenomenal place to eat. Everything was absolutely spot on from the atmosphere to the food. We came here to celebrate after wedding dress shopping and it was so much fun. The mimosas were delightful, and the banana waffles I ordered were full of flavor. My only complaint would be that the music was a bit loud, difficult to make conversation."
"Honest review. 5/10. Aesthetic wise this place is cute and cozy if you’re looking for a breakfast/brunch place. As for food, some plates lacked flavor. My tacos had little to no bacon/pork belly as listed on the menu. It was mostly scrambled eggs and the garnishes. My group and I ordered plenty of dishes to try and it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Food came out within 5-10 mins and were warm to touch. Not sure if the cooks were in a rush to send out our foods…but the Pina Colada French toast was soggy and seemed a little undercooked. The scrambled eggs in the tacos were cold and tasted bland. We were only able to secure the 2:30pm reservation, which is the last reservation time they offer. They did notify us about the kitchen closing/bar at 3pm and to order everything we needed before then. Our server took our order at around 2:40pm. As we were just about to finish eating our food, the bussers were already removing our plates from the table. Our server was attentive and told us we could pay our tabs and were welcomed to stay, but to be completely honest….it did make it feel as if we needed to leave right away once we were done eating, even though reservation times are reserved for 90 mins only. My group and I ended up leaving around 3:30. I would not recommend choosing the 2:30pm reservation as your last resort. Choose a different time to have a better experience and not feel rushed. It will also give you more time to enjoy your meal and drinks, while getting together with friends and family."
"Outstanding food and service - Hope breakfast bar is arguably my favorite breakfast/brunch place in the twin cities because the menu is tempting from all sides: pancakes, savory bowls, breakfast sandwiches, espresso drinks, boozy drinks. Definitely get a reservation - seating is limited on the weekends."
"We've been meaning to try Hope Breakfast bar for a long time, I'm glad we finally got there for brunch. Definitely get a reservation (you may even have to wait for a table past your reservation time). The specialty coffee was outstanding - especially the Vietnamese coffee! Our meals came out quickly, and I'd have to say the hashbrowns are some of the best (if not the best I've ever had). If you order the chicken and waffles (they are amazing), make sure to get all sauces on the side as the waffle was soggy (but still absolutely delicious). Love what this establishment stands for and how they support their communities. We'll be back soon!"
