AVA Pacific Beach,

"Signed the lease here sight unseen because I was living in a different AVA community in Boston and really loved it there. The demo unit was immaculate, smelled nice, all of the surfaces were brand new and everything looked really clean. less than 24 hours before my move-in, I got a call that my unit was infested with cockroaches, and they were going to have to switch units. For some reason they brought me in to see it anyways and the WALLS WERE MOVING with bugs. They finally got me into the other unit (Ill explain their god-awful Latch lock-and-key system later) and my god, this place hasnt seen even *regular maintenance* in years, much less the renovations displayed in their deceptive demo unit. - Every surface is made out of the cheapest available particleboard complete with flaking/peeling laminate - Light fixtures in the kitchen serve to display a graveyard of dead bugs directly over your food prep area - Seriously, who did y'all find to paint this place? Have they not heard of painters tape? - The floor moulding is straight up rotting. Great attempt to cover that up with layers and layers of paint, but still very much rotten. - The mirror is warped and has black mold all over it. -The smell of mildew permeates the apartment. - The doors & windows barely close and there is a noticeable draft in the apartment. - The kitchen countertop laminate is cracked and peeling and is perfect for breeding bacteria - The bathroom countertop is discolored, cracked, and generally gross. - The bathroom (closet) is too small to even disrobe in. When I asked if something could be done to bring this absurdly expensive unit into the 21st century, they essentially told me to pound sand and find somewhere else to live, which I simply cant. When I pushed back on this, they had a fella come in and replace ONE (1) drawer in the kitchen, and told me that was the best he could do, unless I wanted to renovate it myself (Yeah, right!). I dont know what these people do with all our rent money, but they certainly dont put it back into their units. Where they get off charging 2600/month for a deeply cracked out motel room is beyond me. Maybe if you spent our rent money on fixing your community instead of pimping out your lobby and demo units, you might not have such overwhelming cockroach problems. COME FIX MY APARTMENT."

"AVA is a decent place to live and not all may have had my experience. PROS: Awesome amenities (Gym, Pool, Tennis Courts, BBQs etc.) Parking, Pet friendly CONS: I had a cockroach infestation for almost 2 months and flooding due to sewer pipes. The walls are also very thin so you can hear your neighbors always. AVA is an old building so keep that in mind. I did have a noteable/wonderful customer service experience with Sanyln K.when the flooding occurred. She went out of her way to accommodate my situation with urgency. She checked in several times and personally went to view that my unit was ready for m to return. She was so pleasant during this stressful situation and did everything she could to make sure that the situation was settled fairly and promptly. Her extra warmth and caring and professionalism was notable as I did not have this experience with a different manager I also dealt with who initially refused to accomodate my situation. Additionally, the maintenance staff Armando Rodriguez was always very quick and helpful whenever I put in a request. He does a great job as well."

"I was forced to unexpectedly move on short notice, and everyone here was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. The rent is on the pricier side, but after living in a similarly priced complex very close to here, the difference is night and day. This place is worth every penny in my opinion (especially if you take advantage of all the amenities). The apartments and community are clean and secure, staff is friendly and hard working, and it's in a beautiful location, close to so much in San Diego."

"I've lived in over 6 different "luxury" apartment buildings between Miami, DC, and now Ava in San Diego over the past decade or so. Before I got to Ava, I had never met a landlord or property manager that I liked. Perhaps that says something about me personally. Then I met the folks at Ava Pacific Beach. I had actually toured an Ava property before in Ballston, VA (although I never ended up renting there). Avalon definitely has uniform standards. The signage, trim, policies, etc. are identical across all their US properties. I thought for sure a giant company like that would be yet another poor experience. Pacific Beach proved me wrong. Every single associate I've interacted with has been friendly and pleasant (and genuine too, shocking for California). Every maitenance request has been met and solved within an hour or less. They were super accomodating towards me in my lease too. Didn't raise rent when I renewed for the second 12 months. And were very accomodating when I moved to m2m as far as notifying and price increase. Property is well kept. Special shoutout to Sanlyn for going above and beyond her job description every time I've brought an issue into that office. Again, I've never liked any of the landlords or prop management companies I've stayed at before. Can't find one negative thing to say about the folks at Ava."

"AVA PB it's been the best experience I've lived so far. I moved from the East Coast and had 9 (also great) places booked, guess which one I picked? AVA PB was the only one that has everything I need: beach, parks and local shops just a few blocks away, amazing amenities (see photos), pets all over the place (who doesn't love them?) and most importantly an energizing fun community and residents. Highly recommended."
