"I was out of time one year to fully process my deer so Van Meters came to mind as they are local for me. I de-boned, trimmed, cubed and bagged it. Dropped it off, had it weighed, placed my order. Waited for the phone to ring about 6 weeks later and went to pick it up. Shorted about 1/3 of what I should of got back. The loud mouth used the old excuse about loss during the butchering process. I then informed him how I brought my venison in and showed him the weight ticket, add a 1/4 pound pork trim and how I have been doing my own for 30 years just ran out of time this year. He than continued to argue with me about it and even went as far as shouting profanities. I guess that's what a big bald crook would do when caught red handed. I'll never go back nor recommend them to anyone."

I really appreciated that they carried the meat and loaded it in my car. I would definitely refer Van Meters to my friends and family."

"We’ve been dropping deer off for processing for years and the quality seems to get worse every year. We were so frustrated last year that we ended up using a shop in New Richmond. Reluctantly we took 3 deer in last week hoping their service had improved. It didn’t. Examples- the ground venison packages are all different weights, from 1lb to 1.75lbs. We paid to have pork added and question whether or not it was based on color and comparison to pure venison ground. The order was clear- no roasts and back straps saved. We received 2 roasts and 11 small packages marked “loin”, no backstraps. The people working the counter are friendly and seem to appreciate the business, I just wish the team cutting and labeling cared about their quality. The friendly staff and speedy service earn 2 stars."
