Reviews of Point Loma Bay Apartments
"Been living here for three years now. Originally was in a one bed, currently in a studio. I definitely echo the sentiment about the apartments not breathing well: the one bed in particular was horribly insulated to the point where I spent most of my time in the bedroom where the AC actually worked. The studio is actually an improvement in this regard since you have windows adjacent to each other (one in the front, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom). I don't have to use my AC unit as much as a result, which is nice. Options for internet are not great. Cox is absolutely abysmal, while AT&T/EarthLink are just okay. As someone who worked from home during the pandemic, it was a bit annoying to get random service outages at inopportune times. SDG&E also seems to love doing maintenance on our transformer here, so much so that they end up taking longer than expected almost every time. The area is hit or miss, though to be honest that seems to be a constant here in San Diego. Being close to the beach is both a blessing and a curse: the homeless do venture in to the area from time to time, though to their credit, they keep vandalism and other disturbances to a minimum. Probably helps that there's no easy ways out of here by foot, and the middle school nearby also probably acts as something of a deterrent. Otherwise, it's a decent location in terms of convenience, so long as you have a car. Reading through the reviews, it seems many people take issue with Dio, the manager. While I can't speak to their experiences, I haven't had any negative experiences with her, personally. The main issue I have with the apartments themselves is the aforementioned issue of poor insulation, which does make them unpleasantly warm even when it's cool outside. It doesn't help that the buildings both face southwest and that many of the apartments are on the second floor. Besides that, most of the issues I have are peripheral to the units themselves, but also not things I expect to be much better anywhere else."
"My partner and I lived here for 6 months. That was more than enough. Overall, the community is quiet and safe. However, Dio who is ahead of management is the rudest and condescending woman I’ve ever met. To the moment we signed the lease and left that horrible place she had a nasty attitude. Never in the office when you need her. Leaves when she wants so it’s hard to contact the office when you need them. This place literally scammed us. Not to mention you are paying so much money for a closet. If you can avoid living here than do it. Choose somewhere else to live closer to the beach. It’s literally not worth the headache of dealing with this place. I’m just happy we are in a better situation and we are being treated with respect. It’s the fact that she has so many bad reviews on here of her and she still works there. Just shows what kind of property they run."
"My girlfriend and I have been living here going on our second year, and we love it here !! This is an awsome location very close to the gym, beaches, groceries stores, Our neighbors are very cool, and the place is very quiet at night. The laundry room is always clean and neat. Management seems very nice and is very polite and dose a fantastic job. The apartment maintenance is also very productive if our apartment needs work. This apartment complex is always upgrading and looking better and better. Karin and I are very happy here and love our place here. I'm definitely giving "point loma bay apartments a "5 point star" in everything. John Rozetti & Karin Miller. 8/6/19"
"Don't ever expect to get your security deposit back, even if you spend money and put in hours and hours of work to get the apartment looking spotless. Neighbors even said it was cleaner than their place was when they moved in. Still end up somehow OWING the complex money even after hiring a carpet cleaner and putting in tons of work. This place is a complete scam and the apartments are incredibly stuffy and hot. Definitely NOT worth what they are charging even for the close distance to the beach. The office should clean up their attitude and their policies. Incredibly unpleasant, wish the time and money hadn't been wasted."
"It was unfortunately terrible. I thought I got a steal for an apartment less than a mile from the beach at 1575 per month, but that was not the case. There are always homeless drug addicts walking through the area. I have found drugs and needles walking distance from my front door. Even though you’re near the beach, there is no air flow through your apartment and you will hate it. Forget cooking in your own place because it turns into a sauna. We were part of a 4 apartment check for bed bugs, but we were the ONLY apartment that did NOT have them. That is crazy to me! I saw all of my neighbors throwing away their furniture and bedding. Now moving on to the trash... you pretty much pay for nothing. There were a number of times where it felt like our trash had not yet been taken for days, upon weeks! And considering how many homeless people were around, I would always find someone In our trash or a group of people showing up to go through it! I was highly disappointed with our landlord. I had just had my baby, and not even a week old, she wanted to send in a crew with a canine to check the apartment for bugs. I told her I was still healing and am not comfortable with a canine in my apartment other than my own dog. She still showed up to my front door, and insisted we do it so it would be done and over with but it was an extreme inconvenience as I was still in recovery and my daughter was only days old. She also posts up everyone’s rent and additional costs on our doors every month. One day, I was in my living room with my door open (we had a sheer screen as a barrier for bugs) and she walked by, stuck her hand through the screen door into our apartment and slapped our rent notice on our front door. I was in complete shock at how unprofessional her actions were. We have still not yet received our deposit and we’ve been out of the partner for over a month an a half. This apartment complex is terrible and I suggest finding somewhere else to live. The cost is not worth it and the price went up! Not a safe environment for children, and if any security matters were to come up to the landlord, she would be extremely difficult to get ahold of. Very unreliable."
