Solana Mar Apartments

"As a current resident, this place is sub par to some places I have lived. As with most apartment homes they charge to much for the quality of the apartment. Cabinetry is cheap and the stickers or paint is peel off and management is not that friendly. They charge you for everything that they should be fixing. I asked them to come a repair peeling paint and they said because of fair housing they couldn’t and gave me the paint to do it myself. My lawyer who does fair housing said that was maintenance and should have been fixed by the maintenance team. They towed my brand new car that only had for 12 hours parked in my space that I pay for, it didn’t have the updated parking sticker but I had just bought it and they didn’t even check to see if it was mine just towed and it was clearly a brand new car. They didn’t even offer to reimburse. The crime in the unit is getting bad cars getting broken into. They call it a family living space but the cars drive to fast in the parking lot despite speed bumps that are placed. People do not pick up after there pets, even though they say a $50 fine will be assessed to everyone found not picking up after there pet. it has central heating and air but for a small two bed room unit the electric bill is over $500. I have never left an appointment review but I feel like this needs to be done. It’s fine for single people and couples but if you have a family don’t do it. Also at time your information is not private the office people have certain residents they talk to as friends and that information is shared with others tenants like gossip and stated the information came from the office. Make sure you do your research"

"This apartment complex is truly lovely. The management is friendly as are all the residents we met while living there. The amenities are beautiful and the grounds are well kept. It feels like a resort. It’s also quiet and peaceful. The location doesn’t get much better - about a 20 min walk to the Belly Up and the beach. My ONLY gripe, and this is a weird one, was the water quality in the apartment. The water from the sinks smelled, the toilet would develop this black mold-like residue every couple of days, and the shower water made my hair feel terrible. After living there for over a year, i noticed my hair was starting to fall out. Not kidding. After i moved away, this stopped almost immediately. This could be an area-wide thing and not Solana Mar’s fault, but something to mention. Otherwise an overall great apt complex!"

"Solana Mar was a great place to live with a seamless management change that made the homely environment even better. Bri in the leasing office is phenomenal for any question, problems or concerns. Maintenance requests are taken care of quickly and the property is always in great condition. Great location to the highway and the beach :)"

"When I walked into the leasing office at Solana Mar I was immediately impressed with the welcome I received. Before I even toured the property I was sold. The leasing manager is warm and friendly and made me feel at home. She was able to answer all my questions about Solana Mar and Solana Beach. This was followed up with the tour of the apartment complex, and the grounds. If you want to live in a community with great people, beautiful amenities, well manicured grounds, and state of the art  apartments Solana Mar is the location for you."

"I am not a resident at Solana Mar but I recently encountered an issue with parking and management. I was towed in a guest parking spot, where I have been parking (sometimes overnight) for the last year. When I went to speak with the management, I found it extremely difficult to get hold of them. They returned none of my calls, their office was closed when I left work early to speak with them despite the office hours that are posted online, and finally they informed me I had no chance at getting my money back and that it "happens all the time." NOWHERE on this property is there signage informing the guests that they need permits. There is NOTHING on their website and it is NOT IN THEIR LEASE AGREEMENT. Rather, the residents simply get an email from an entirely different company for guest permits... easy to slip through the cracks. I find it misleading that the tow away zone sign has nothing on it about guest permits. It just doesn't sit right with me knowing that this has been a reoccurring issue. Mind you the tow was $400... and after speaking with them in person, the management has no intention of having any signage informing guests. Easy way to make money I suppose."
