Reviews of Portola Redlands
"Vivian at the front office made my move in very easy, despite me having many moving complications. She stayed late after hours to meet me and provide me with my key on a Friday night ! Good communication and very clean and very nice apartment. Very happy with the leasing team and my new spot."
"I lived here for a year. The rent is a little overpriced comparing with other newer/nicer apartments around Redlands (I should've done better research). Apartment: I lived in the smaller unit 2b2b. The unit itself is quite spacious, lots of storage spaces plus a small car garage. Some new appliances like the over/microwave and Nest thermostats are nice. As other reviews are saying, the building itself is definitely older. The window comes with a single panel and rattles during windy days, and also fails to keep cool air accumulated in your room. The AC might be old and it takes so much electricity to run. Summer electricity bill was about $300 monthly which is insane! Tried to check with the management, but they didn't do anything to help and kept saying it's normal. Sound isolation was very poor due to the thin wall and single panel window. I've got a neighbor with dog barking all day and you can hear it pretty much every corner of the apartment. If your building is near the pool, it can get quite noisy and you can hear kids yelling from the pool. So if you enjoy quieter environment, stay far away from the pool. The faucet is old and engineered badly as others say. It gets stuck or leaks water at times. We also had cooking smoke coming into our bathroom every time when the downstairs neighbor cook meals, making the our entire bathroom/bedroom full of cooking smoke which was very unpleasant. Although the maintenance team came to investigate, they couldn't figure out what's causing it. Maintenance/gardening: Sergio and the maintenance team are really friendly, quick to response, and always willing to help when is needed. They try to keep the complex clean, and each week there is gardening work to keep the complex tidy. Management: Although Vivian and Katrina are friendly, the overall management is hit or miss. They were relatively active when dealing with my complaints to neighbor's barking dog issues, however, other than that, they seemed to not care so much. They are so slow replying your emails or often times don't even reply at all. You really have to chase them around to get the help/answers you need. So very poor communication for the most part from the management. Move out/security deposit: it takes about a month to get my security deposit back, and they took off almost $400 even though I kept the apt in a really good condition which is ridiculous. I tried to get in touch with the management about the reason why they deducted a high amount but no luck. I wrote three emails and all got ignored. Tried to call them with my cell and they don't pick up because of the caller ID. I had to get through with a different number that they don't recognize. When they picked up I asked for a detailed itemized receipt that shows where the $400 dollars went. They claimed they had to replace the carpet (which was in really good condition and they'll replace carpet anyway after each tenant moves out) and they'll send the details but it's been another month and I haven't got anything. They just don't care and no communication after you moved out which can be very frustrating."
"Just a little feedback about Portola. The experience I had the was one of the best I’ve ever had in renting. The whole management and leadership team were real polite and encouraging about any concerns or issues I had. The whole complex was maintained and very quite. Overall the whole experience was awesome. I do recommend anyone that is looking for a great location to try and take some time to stopping by and assist the whole complex. Thanks Portola management team. Best regards"
"My husband and I moved here in December, and so far it's been a great experience! We actually hadn't even been planning on touring here when we were apartment hunting, but we saw it while we were driving by, thought it looked nice on the outside, and called the office to see if we could check it out. Sarah in the front office kindly squeezed us in right away before she had to give a tour to someone else, and we were impressed by the apartment. We really don't have any complaints - we feel very comfortable here, and it's our favorite place we have ever lived. The office is very responsive to any questions or concerns and has been transparent with us, and Sergio and the maintenance staff have been quick to fix the couple small things that came up. It's great not having to share a laundry room with a whole bunch of people (the 2 smaller apartments in each building share one laundry room, and the 2 larger ones each have their own laundry in the garage). We love having a garage - it's nice to be able to both use it for some storage and a car. Parking hasn't been an issue - we can almost always find a spot right outside our apartment, but if we come home late at night and all the spots are full there is plenty of street parking nearby. Our cat loves to go on walks (we're some of those weird people that walk our cat on a leash) in the big green grassy area in the middle near the pool, and it's been fun meeting all the friendly neighbors on our walks. It's a pretty quiet place to live, the building layout promotes some good privacy, the neighbors are all really nice, and we feel very safe in the neighborhood. I definitely recommend living here if you're thinking about it - and maybe my cat and I will see you out on a walk sometime!"
