Reviews of Westmore Apartments
"Dirty!! Elevators always broken building isn’t cleaned regularly.they have a trash pick up services that’s SUPPOSE to come one day and doesn’t come do trash is left in the hallway so it stinks . Walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor snor at night"
"Walls are THIN! I heard my neighbors doing EVERYTHING! Parking lot is weird, there is no elevators so you need to walk down some weird steps. It is getting aged and dirty. Location is the only good thing."
"I lived here from August 2017 to August 2018. The rent and parking is overpriced, the gym and laundry area smelled of trash, in the basement. The management has changed 3 times in 1 year. I have called 1-2 times a month since August and they have yet to refund my security deposit and tell me to "call back in 3 days" and that the new management does not have our records filed properly yet. It is absolutely ridiculous. The only positive part of living here was the 3 security officers who were always helpful, kind and kept the property safe."
"Overpriced, and over the past year and a half, they have changed management 3 times (that should say something)! Was there on a one year lease, that ended back in August. I have still yet to receive my security deposit and have called repeatedly, where they put you on a wild goose hunt for an answer. Call back on "x" if you don't hear from us by "y". Never hear anything, and then you get ignored. Apparently many (I'm assuming ALL) other tenants are dealing with this same problem so POTENTIAL RENTERS BEWARE!"
"I lived at the Westmore for a little over a year, and I would have stayed longer if we hadn't been adding an additional person to our living situation. Move-in to Move-out, I loved it here, but it is not without its rough edges. I'm gonna keep it 100% here, so: THE GOOD: - The Westmore is right off of Wilshire in an area that is BLOWING UP. If you like Ktown, you are in the thick of it. Not only are you 5 minutes drive from the best KBBQ in LA (Park's, Soo won Galbi, Moo Dae Poo, Oo Kook, Soot Bull Jeep, etc.) but you are in a walkable urban community outside of the chaos that is DTLA. It's a great happy medium. - The building is awesome. Formerly commercial office space, it has a unique aesthetic. Amenities: gym (some equipment needs to be replaced, but the space is great), sauna, in-house storage units, media room (more on that in a sec), industrial laundry room, rec room, and 24/7 security (VICTOR and JOSE are great), and 5 floors of covered parking in a closed garage. - The Units are BIG. The office drop-ceilings have been gutted to reveal 14-foot lofted room space, which adds a huge sense of space. Our 2 bed/2 bath unit included Washer/Dryer (more on that), fully-loaded open plan kitchen w/ modern furnishings and appliances. Hardwood floors, carpeted bedrooms. - THE VIEWS. Cannot be overstated. Our unit was on the 8th floor facing north. You will pay a considerable amount more for the upper floors, but I think it is entirely worth it. I spent at least 5 minutes of every single day staring at the vistas of the Hollywood Hills and the San Gabriel Mountains. No Balconies, but HUGE windows. - Elevators are quick as hell. You will almost never have to wait more than 20 seconds for an elevator; perks of the office building history. I had an on-call job, which took me in and out of the apartment a lot. - Management: The whole building is essentially run by one person, which is insanely impressive. He's laid back, friendly, and attentive. Never had a single problem with maintenance requests or communication. - Loads of really cute Korean girls. For many reasons... THE BAD: - The walls are VERY thin. Definitely A LOT of sound traveling between units, not through the floors but the walls. Parties, conversations, marital disputes, etc. I've heard all of these. I'm used to urban living, but I was not a huge fan of having to listen to my neighbor getting down with his Saturday Night Slampiece against the wall he shared with my bedroom. Balls to the wall, indeed. - That effing Washer/Dryer. It works. It's fine. But you have to futz with it a lot to stop it from destroying the elastic in your clothes, and even then it will take 3-4 hours to do one load. Nothing came out super dry. - The Media Room that was promised to us on move-in was never made available even more than a year later. There were some rumors that it was being used for private parties but I never saw anything like that. THE UGLY: - Lots of little dogs in the building that seem to pee everywhere. Not much to be done about other tenants, but not welcome. - Lots of people smoking inside. Not cool dudes. - Having to schlep from the top floor of the garage down to the ground level to enter the building. No direct garage access except for on the ground and basement floors (through the trash room). OVERALL the Westmore is awesome and the GOOD far, far outweighs the BAD. Cool management, great security staff, a huge number of amenities even if you account for those that are in need of attention, big units, great location. I would definitely recommend."
