Reviews of The Langham
"Lillian really helped me when I was having a hard time finding a place to live. I needed a place in an emergency but was in massive credit card debt and no one would rent to me. I’m still so grateful for her and everyone that works in this building! The building isn’t perfect but it’s home. The rooftop and views are beautiful. That said… The security isn’t great and sometimes there’s some weirdos in the building and the laundry machines absolutely are so bad I often go to the laundromat instead."
"Managers are barely here. Packages get stolen and security either falls asleep during their shift or doesn’t patrol. Laundry machines are currently all broken and they even raised the prices on old and dusty broken down machines. Roaches on every floor. Rent is raised very high on units as soon as someone has moved out even though this building is rent controlled. Constant filming goes on in the building and management doesn’t notify us in a timely manner. Owners don’t care about preserving the history of the building. Main Elevators are damaged due to film crews and people moving. This issue could be fixed if they bothered to fix the service elevator but they dont. Pieces of the ceiling in the halls and stairs are falling and breaking off due to water damage. Old crusty vending machines that barely work in the laundry room. Apartments are giving landlord special."
"The building is beautiful and the location is great, however the people are not. It took 2 weeks to reach anyone in the leasing office (the phone number requires a remote access code sometimes, even during business hours). This past Monday I finally got a hold of Lily, who is super friendly, and we scheduled an appointment for a viewing for Wednesday, but no one was there when I arrived! A woman named Martha with keys to the office (though not a leasing agent, she said) was extremely displeased to see me there and reluctantly gave me an application while telling me everyone has been out all week. Hopefully someone there is willing to get paid, because it really is a perfect location at a reasonable price."
"I've lived there in the late 80s early 90s. I remember seeing the ad it said New York New York art deco even though it's not art deco. It's mostly Spanish colonial. Nevertheless it is tasteful. It was very nice the service was excellent the only problem was street parking. When Ronald and Nancy Reagan stayed there it was a hotel. Check out the basement. I came across many mementos. And the rooftop swimming pool was the first of its kind where Johnny Weissmuller, Tarzan used to go swimming as well as the Olympic swim team used to practice there too. I've met many people. And I love checking out Wilshire boulevard. The place is concrete and steel reinforced and has survived many earthquakes. I lived on the 6th floor West and on a clear day you can see a little sparkling of the Pacific Ocean."
"Obviously this building is beautiful and the perks are the pool of course. Please be aware of any rent and move in specials during this Covid-19 time. What was advertised and mentioned wasn’t actually the case. So definitely get it all in writing from the leasing agent before you spend a lot of time and get all the documents required. Because suddenly the specials “changed” once we applied for the apartment and it was not what was said... The apartments are old, but well kept. It’d be a nice place to live for a while, the area is a good location but not much greenery around for walks. Also parking is now $165 a month, so keep that in mind if you have a car. You will not find street parking 99% of the time. Overall good and rent is reasonably priced for LA."
