Reviews of Santa Fe Art Colony
"We used to live her, back when only working artists lived here. We were treated horribly by the old and new owners, but we had community. Artists built the area up, only to be pushed out by triple, quadruple the rents. What goes around, comes around. I miss the good people of LA, but that's about it."
"Toxic wasteland. Don’t let the Lowe’s reno fool you. Research the owners and the lawsuit currently in play against them from former tenants suing for (among other things) non disclosure that a “toxic plume” is present creating a variety of health issues. The concrete recycling plant with giant mountain of pulverized concrete right next door blows silica dust all over cars and units. There are animal rendering plants that emit nauseating smells. A medical instrument sterilization company in the neighborhood spews dioxin. Not to code venting permits sewage smells to enter units. There’s an RV encampment behind the compound of drug addicted and mentally ill homeless who regularly break in to cars and try to get into the vacant units. The new ownership are cartoon slum lords. The management do their bidding and nothing improves."
"The building you see in the picture is not what it looks like now. It's covered in graffiti. There also has been an increase in attempted breaks-ins on top of actual breaks-ins where they broke into a few units. An increase in homelessness near the Washington st. entrance and is a very unsafe road to take to access the building. Campers living just a few feet away from the property and appear to be high on drugs making their behavior unpredictable. A very slow response coming from management here in terms of executing these issues. I added new photos (timestamp 10/30/23) of this historic building to show how our property managers (Avenue 5) are treating/neglecting our home by choosing not to remove graffiti."
"Not even worth a one star. Been living here for over 7 years and have complained about my roof leaking since 2016 and never fixed. See attached photos every time it rains. All I got was my rent doubled in price. No roof fixed."
"I have lived here for 11 years and our new management has not repaired damage from break- ins two months ago. We were broken into ten times in the last month and twice last night and we are all living in fear. Do not move here! New management does not care about the occupants. They had security but removed it and it’s very difficult to get ahold of anyone to help. I’ve had three sewage floods and denied AC units for the last 11 years. There is constant theft of packages and plants and zero insulation for sound. You can hear everything and the constant 7am construction for months will drive anyone insane. It used to be a thriving art community with public art shows, open studio event with thousand of visitors, LA Art Tours, and lots of potential business but that stopped with the new owners a year prior to the Pandemic. Everything has gone downhill since then. It’s a nightmare now."
