Reviews of Pismo Preserve
"The Pismo Preserve is the type of hiking we've been longing for with our little ones. The beginning part is very wide and was perfect for our 3 year old and 18 month old to hike safely. It's clean, taken care of, and everyone we met along the way was great. The hikes go up and down a bit with shade and sun. Not a massive hike, but just wonderful. We did the Spring to Spring hike and our doggie got to cool off a bit. The one downside is parking is horrible. We ended up going back under the overpass and finding parking there and walking in. Not too bad. Can't wait to go again."
"Such a beautiful, easy to moderate hike! I highly recommend."
"Easily accessible park with tinny parking lot. If you don’t mind walk a shot steep hill, save some time and park on Price St. Other than that the place is nice. When we went it was quite green and foggy at the start. Just as we turned around the fog cleared and we could see very far"
"Great spot off the highway to hike. The scenic views are spectacular when the skies are clear. Parking is limited. You might have to park closer to the beach and walk to the Preserve."
"We hiked up High Road (which is part of the trail, not an actual road you drive on) and then the Panhandle trail. Trails were well maintained, signs clearly indicate which way the path continues at intersections, and the view was beautiful. Saw a few lizards and a snake. First-time visitor, I was nervous about mountain bikers not being able to see us / run us off the path, but that ended up not being an issue at all. There are bells for the bikers to borrow so they can also be heard. There's enough room to step to the side to let them pass. The parking lot was a decent size, but I could see it being filled on a weekend at peak hours. We went on a Friday around noon, and there were only a few spots open. Bathrooms were very clean, the water fountain was operational and clean, and the park map was accurate and clear. It's a beautiful spot to visit- if I was a local I would frequent this preserve. It's dog friendly and many people were hiking/ walking with their furry companions"
