"I lived here for almost a year. I personally would not recommend 808 West to anybody. Pros- Prompt trash valet Nice building, clean facilities Gated parking New appliances Good amenities Relatively quiet inside, respectful neighbors Prompt maintenance Cons- Rent is based on an algorithm Train & lightrail noise Limited parking, especially for guests Car break ins Construction noise & planned construction all over the area. Within the block there are about 4 planned apartment projects Dirty hallways (they were recently redone but still) Frequent apartment wide fire alarms Horrible water quality Area is a bit sketchy Unorganized and unhelpful leasing staff, slow responses Stolen mail & packages I feel as though I signed my lease under false pretenses as well. I found a studio on the website for a discounted rate. I went to tour and everything was perfect, it had a great view and I signed the lease. Less than a month of moving in, construction started and I lost my view and many hours of sleep. The construction was never mentioned to me and there were no signs of it when I toured. I contacted Troy about this and he basically told me that I was lying and he trusted that his staff would have said something and offered no resolution. But TLDR; you can find better."
"I’ve lived at 808 for 3.5 years now and there has been a steep decline the last couple of years, unfortunately. We had a very positive experience our first year which may be why we’ve been so disappointed since. Our biggest issues: -In July 2022 we signed a petition along with numerous other residents against the extreme rent increases (30%+) being imposed. This petition was ignored and the rent increases remained. - Very frequent vehicle break-ins/stolen gas from cars/entire vehicles stolen even beyond the security gate. To combat this they’ve made parking more expensive and hired a predatory towing service that has been in conflict with several residents. They also sold a considerable chunk of parking to an office tenant in the building, further reducing parking with no benefit to residents. You will get towed if your parking permit gets dislodged, you unknowingly park in the “reserved” spaces, etc. -The security team hired has gotten in verbal altercations with guests of ours, and followed us around while videotaping us instead of politely explaining we shouldn’t be in the shared spaces after 10pm. When I’ve called security after being threatened by homeless people in the mail room, or when cars barge past the only gate we have, I’ve been told they can’t help me. When our car was broken into we were told the security cameras do not cover that section of the garage. -We’ve reported feces and cockroaches in the hallways multiple times. The leasing office never replied regarding the cockroaches. They did reply when I had to report a trail of blood over 3 flights of stairs, which was immediately cleaned. -In July 2022 we signed a petition along with numerous other residents against the extreme rent increases being imposed. This petition was ignored and the rent increases remained. Some of the amenities that are no longer around included very present security guards, garage power washing, window washing and weekly food trucks. Some amenities that have declined are overall hallway cleanliness, security is difficult to reach and not helpful when you do get through, and the mandatory trash valet frequently misses our trash and no longer gives warnings to the many people that leave loose, smelly trash bags in the hallways. I believe this was due to the reduced income during the pandemic, but the building just paid for more appealing hallway floors instead of something that benefits current residents. The issues with frequent fire alarms, stolen packages, elevator outages, and noisy streets remain but are not within their sphere of control, obviously. I’m sad to say all this because truly the apartment themselves are wonderful and it’s an especially welcoming place if you have pets. Some changes to the parking, safety, and cleanliness of the building would go a very long way."
"Cool place! Have family that lives there. Pretty expensive but the norm for San Jose. Plenty of amenities there with a nice pool and gym. Check it out."
"I had an amazing renting experience with Troy and Carolina, the approval process was quickly and direct. We have been living for a month with no complaints wife and daughter are very happy."
"We’ve lived here for almost 4 years in 2b/2b. Have never had an issue .The staff is exceptional and always willing to help. The apartments are very spacious with huge walk-in closets. Kitchen is also great with gas stove and a lot of cabinet space. Wall insulations are good, we’ve never heard any noise from neighbors. The gym is best I’ve seen in any apartment building."
