Reviews of Camille Apartments
"Would rate this place a zero if I could. I had moved in a haste without noticing some details during the tour. But I regretted within a month of moving in. I had to move out early and sublease it with someone else, because I was worried about surviving the summer there. 1. The carpets on the stairs and hallways are pungent and full of stains. There have been many a times I’ve noticed rotting food, and spilled liquids on the stairs. 2. The insulation for heat and sound is pathetic. I could hear everything from my neighbors’ mobile phones vibrating to every footstep people take. When I tried to setup a white noise speaker for sleeping well, that apparently was loud enough to keep other neighbors awake. 3. Once a month the laundry payment system is broken, rendering all the machines useless 4. Getting hold of the property manager is difficult. When I had setup a meeting, she just kept moving the meetings last minute, and expected to comply. 5. Maintenance is slow. It took them 3 weeks to fix the bedrooms’s broken heater. 6. The century old elevator is useless. Check it, and you’ll know why. 7. Jacuzzi is filled with pungent water. Tried it once, and regretted immediately 8. Ventilation is so bad that the studio style apartments rise in temperatures by 5-6 degrees compared to outdoors. The only good things are the Caltrain station, Safeway, and San Antonio mall next to this place. Nothing to do with the apartment itself."
"Worst experience in my life. Apartment is right next to the road, so it's very noisy. It always makes me tired. The manager is horrible. When your lease ends, they won't give you back your deposit. Last year, I paid about two thousand deposit and they didn't give me back instead they request more money. Horrible experience. Please stay away from this place."
"The apartment building absolutely smells putrid. It is poorly maintained and as previous reviews have stated the property management is abysmal. Tenants are treated with the same level of contempt as they treat the property. There are cheaper and better managed properties around."
"We applied (paid 70 in total) and got approved. Office is closed for viewing during new year so we scheduled viewing the first time slot available to confirm. But they told us it is unavailable the same day saying they don’t hold apartment during application period. So multiple people apply at the same time and whoever replies email faster gets it. It seems ridiculous to me. All other management won’t accept application if there is already one."
"Myself, wife and our Infant child lived in their studio apartment (593sqft) for 15 months and based on our experience, this apartment will be a perfect place if you are of the following type of person (READ ALL THE POINTS, I KNOW IT IS HUGE, YOU ARE DOING GOOD FOR YOURSELF BY READING ALL POINTS): A. Pre-Move in: 1. Pay security deposit + Rent before moving -> Common practice in SF bayarea 2. Application fee - $40 to $50 (dont remember) per adult living in the apt 3. IMPORTANT - The pre move-in inspection will be done along with the property manager, which she will rush out to mark and sign everything as clean in the paper, actually it will be clean and in good shape; But the hack is, you will miss a lot to notice which will appear once you moved in actually! Be-aware, if you still decide after reading all my points, at-least, be careful to take your time in filling pre-move in statement. B. Living: 1. You rent on-time (if you miss the 1st, you will be charged late fee ~$80 per day), but you MUST NOT live in the apartment (ie) you are the only person rented and travel mostly and just visit your house 2-3 days in a month 2. You are the only person living in the apartment and don't bother about paying their overpriced rent 3. You are the person who enjoys your neighbor private conversations or their blasting music through their very thin walls 4. You are the one who enjoys the very nasty smell through the hallway 5. You are the one who enjoys the strict property manager who implements each and every single word from the rule book and enjoys when she always inspects your patio (no objects like plants or drying racks in your patio)/apartment entry (you can't leave footwear anytime)/parking lot/dump yard and all your activities through their camera MOVE-OUT: 1. You are the person who happily paying double or triple your security deposit amount ($2000 to $3000) when you leave (if you leave before 1 year, you have to pay double than my case) 2. You are the person who enjoys when your property manager tells the things are okay during pre-move out Inspection, but still charges you a lot which you will never imagine after your move out. 3. You are the person who will not shock to see the overpriced charges for the Paint (they charged $1500 for painting the studio, if you live in 1BR or 2BR, double or triple the amount) and other such similar charges Finally, Over my 15 months of stay, we noticed about 10-15 move outs, we wonder if this is the apartment or hotel room! If you decide to move in the apartment just because of good locality, FYI, there are many other good neighbor apartments in the same locality. Even you read all the above and if you feel you are the ideal tenant for their apartment, Good Luck and God Bless you. I guess, after you move out in few days/months, you will sit and write such a big comment when you move out the apartment, likewise I am doing now."
