Reviews of The Retreat at Walnut Creek Apartments
"Common areas are filthy (e.g., trash chutes backed up from the basement garage to the third floor), amenities often not available (e.g., pool closed for 18 of the 24 months we lived here), policies draconian and nonsensical (e.g., no hanging plants on balconies), and the property is in a general state of disrepair (e.g., elevator out of service for months). Worst, management refuses accountability for any of the major issues affecting tenants’ quality of life. They consistently respond to tenants’ concerns with defensiveness, deflection, and misleading statements while accusing tenants of not doing enough to notify them of issues. Walnut Creek has plenty of apartments with better amenities and more responsive management at a comparable price point. I would recommend any of them above The Retreat. The landscaping is nice though."
"I had a fantastic experience at The Retreat Apartments! The management team, especially Morgan, was super caring. The maintenance staff was efficient, and overall, my stay was outstanding. Highly recommend!"
"The retreat office are not supportive, they don't care about resident needs. Always say we are sorry, we can't. Recently, they towed away cars of 20 residents in midnight, because we forgot to put complex permit tag to our car. The next day, all residents got confused and looked for their cars. The crazy part is that we went to Arrowhead towing company, waited there for 2 hours and they charged us for $400-500/car. The retreat apartment didn't call, text or email the residents before towing the cars in midnight. What happens if I had a sick person in my apartment that needs emergency room at midnight? I hope they feel shame when they read this, it is not fair for the respectful residents that are paying you too much money for this old complex."
"I wish no stars were possible! One start because of the location. It’s very close to downtown WC. Other than that This place is horrible! It’s a nightmare. If you like your sleep interrupted by the sounds of your neighbors walking, running and dropping things all day and night and hearing the floor beds make awful sounds because they are old then come on down to The Retreat at Walnut Creek. You will also have your own private waterfall/ white noise because everytime the water runs you hear it through the walls. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Don’t think about complaining to management because all that will be said is it’s an older complex it’s not much we can do. Well I’m here to inform you it is something you can do change the damn wood and bedding under the carpet!!!!! Invest in your property. I hate it here and haven’t gotten a peaceful nights sleep since I’ve been here. Stay far away from this place. I wake up with headaches every morning because the lack of sleep I’m getting. The retreat isn’t a peaceful place. I plan to run the hell out of here the first chance I get. Do not lease here! Signed an unhappy, sleep deprived, annoyed and fed ip tenant."
"Avoid making the same error as us by choosing not to reside in The Retreat, as it stands among the most unfavorable living locations. This caution is particularly crucial due to the high crime rate within the complex itself and the complete absence of security or assistance from the leasing team. We feel compelled to share our encounter with this place. Our initial predicament involved an ongoing issue: a dog residing above us repeatedly urinating from their balcony. Upon discussing the matter with the leasing office, they attempted to convince us that the liquid was merely water dripping onto our balcony furniture. However, we had visual evidence, captured in videos, of the dog urinating on our possessions. Despite our efforts over several weeks to prompt the leasing office to address the situation with our neighbors, they finally asserted that the issue was resolved. This proved untrue, as the dog's behavior persisted. Ultimately, we had to approach our neighbors ourselves, only to find that the leasing office had never contacted them. Subsequently, we encountered leaks in our ceilings and walls, requiring extensive time for repairs. Astonishingly, upon moving out, we were charged for repainting the walls that had been damaged during these repairs. In another instance, my husband's car suffered a broken window in the rented parking garage for which we paid $150 monthly. Valuable tools from the car were also stolen. Despite the circumstances, the leasing office declared their inability to take any action. Furthermore, theft and vandalism within the complex were recurrent, and police interventions in our building occurred at least twice a month. Our ordeal continued as my husband's car was towed, despite clearly displaying a parking pass on the window. Although he retrieved the vehicle promptly and documented the pass through photographs, he was still forced to pay the towing fee. The leasing office contended that the pass needed to be more prominently visible. Our interactions with the leasing office were marked by abysmal communication, and their treatment of tenants was nothing short of disrespectful. Anticipate no assistance or support from them whatsoever. Regrettably, renting an apartment within this building is akin to subjecting oneself to an absolute nightmare."
