"I have lived at 420 North Bayshore Blvd in San Mateo (Country Club Apartments) for several years. The only reason I stayed was because of the price. While rent hikes have become yearly, there is no accompanying rise in quality._______________The apartment managers come and go -- every few years a new one replaces the old. But in all cases, the management is very lazy and takes their sweet F***ing time when things need to get fixed, like plumbing issues, etc. -- Basically, the apartment manager is only on the premises when he wants to show a new apt. to prospective tenants, but when you need him there to fix the wash/drying machines, he's never around. By the way, half of the washers/dryers are permanently broken. Generally, the managment here is very good at making excuses for not doing whatever needs to be done, but aside from that, the word INCOMPETENT is the most applicable.________________The apartments are next to Highway 101, so the diesel exhaust from the road and the constant rain of soot make this a very dirty, unbreathable place._________________There's something about the architecture as well as its position next to the road and neighboring buildings such that the airflow is awful, making the apartments like an oven during the summer -- it stays impossibly hot, and only begins to cool down after 10 PM. _________________This apartment complex is way too close to the neighboring buildings, and the meat-heads who live in the section 8 housing next door are always loud and inconsiderate, forcing the rest of us to listen to their stupid arguments and blasting their Latino music for most of the day. I have had great trouble deciding if they are more like pigs, or perhaps just morons. Or maybe they are both. ______________So all in all, I would describe this place as a Sh*thole, or perhaps a "Bay Area Roach Motel", and remind all prospective tenants that you get what you pay for. I would not recommend this place at all."
"THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE.... DO NOT MOVE HERE!! I have lived here for 2 years. I took this place because of its location and its price for the studio. They have gone through 3 managers in the last 2 years. How hard is it to manage this place. Matt was the great, forgetful yes, but by far the best. They then hired a girl who I think had a lot going on since she had a new born so not her fault in anyway! Now they have a new guy who only last 2 months. KNOW IT ALL KINDA GUY. EXAMPLE: My neighbor had pulled his car in front of a couple cars (mine being one of them) to unload food and then he was leaving. WIthin minutes he was knocking on door saying you can never park like that, and always has to be clear. Like dude he was there for 3 minutes tops, unloading groceries. First off. My rent was at around 1000 (rents used to range from low 900's to 1050) and for a studio up north near Burlingame that is reasonable. But then then they raise the rents not just me but multiple people and say they are market rents and new remodeled studios. We are asking 1200 now. HAHA Do you not know the location of this building and all the illegal and shady stuff that goes on behind or in your building. This is a horrible location and you want to charge market rents of simular properties that are in much better locations. They also make you pay for water garbage trash. Which means if you are a single person living in a studio plan to pay an additional 50 to 70 a month in utilities, While some units have 2 to 4 people living in a studio. You are paying for there usage. Its an absolute joke.So you add that up, and you move here and pay the new "market rents" 1200 + 60 grand total of 1260 -1300 including pge also. THATS 1 BEDROOM PRICES!!!! NOT SMALL STUDIO PRICES. ABSOLUTE JOKE! They also say they are raising prices because of improvements on the building. haha YOU MEAN MAINTENANCE! This building is falling apart and they add new doors and fix a side back room and some facia in the front. The same sample paint has been on the front walls for 3 weeks. There is dry rot on the deck above mine and looks like it could collapse! THIS IS NOT IMPROVEMENTS ITS MAINTENANCE PLEASE UNDERSTAND DIFFERENCE. They charge 1.75 for washer and dryers that dont even work well you have to put 5 pieces of clothing ONLY or else the washer or dryer wont do there jobs. Meaning you have do 10 loads of 1.75 to do your laundry. ITS HONESTLY A JOKE! Multiple people are having this same problem and with the owner being who he is and owning tons of apartments in the bay area I would think that he would take a little more care of his properties. Millions of $ and he makes tenants pay utilities! WITH THAT IM MOVING OUT SOON! DONT MOVE HERE ITS HORRIBLE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. YOU CAN FIND MUCH BETTER 1 BEDROOMS FOR THE SAME KIND OF MONEY OR A LITTLE MORE!"
