"Final update: office screwed up billing under the wrong code, sent me on a goose chase with insurance. Kept texting me despite my refusal to continue as a patient. Update: Willa the office manager listened to my call with Rome and agreed that I was treated incorrectly. I don't think she works here anymore. Update: Allison Gentz called me from a private number because she read this review. She advised me to "keep my emotions in check" during the meeting. She claims I "swore and cussed" at the office staff which has never happened and can be corroborated by the recordings. I truly believe she called to gaslight me into not sharing my truth which is beyond unprofessional. I started seeing Gentz in March 2022 during a depressive episode and she focused our sessions entirely on getting me into a program. As a white woman, she said some things that were insensitive to my culture's beliefs regarding family and refuses to consider the fact that some people cannot cut ties from their familes. This concept seemed to confuse her and she kept insisting that I move out despite me telling her I had long term plans regarding moving. Sessions were largely a waste of time as she would spend 20 mins blabbing about the process of getting me into a program. She promised this week 1 and I saw her 3/4 more times after that but during this month long period, she was unable to do good on her word of having me admitted. She would often turn the blame onto her assistant Rome, who was supposed to contact me regarding the status of admitting me. Sometime we would sit in silence for a while because she is the lazy type of therapist who expects patients to talk endlessly about their issues, despite me clearly communicating to her that I would like her to ask leading questions. Ocean left me a message on 5/4 claiming Rome would contact me. I called today 5/13 and when I brought up the fact that no one contacted me, Rome criticized my raising of my voice, despite me only doing so since he kept repeating himself and talking over me. He tried to get me to call back since I was backing him into a corner of his own faults and shortcomings, citing my justified tone. He then informed me that I had been rejected from the outpatient program, which is news to me and considering my condition, would have been imperative to know immediately. He seemed to have recognized his fault in the matter after I changed the subject, but he said "I am trying to help you if you allow it," which shifts the blame back to me. He also admitted to being the one that faxed my info incorrectly twice, which is why Gentz was confused as to why no action was being taken regarding outpatient. I have done nothing but listen to what Ocean staff have instructed me to do, which is wait while they take care of things but clearly they are largely incompetent at keeping up with patients that need more proactive care. As these calls are recorded, I suggest HR listen to this call and recognize the prevalent issues and the obvious disconnect between staff and patients. The one star is for Dr. Gloria Le who is the only psychiatrist I have met that gives a f about her patients. My intake with her was thorough and I finally felt seen and heard by someone at Ocean. I've read negative reviews about the other psychiatrist, Dr. G., so if you have had a negative experience with him, please consider Dr. Le. However, she did provide me with inaccurate information about the process of obtaining authorization for SPRAVATO, or nasal esketamine. Apparently Ocean works with a middleman so the patient needs to contact the office, sign release forms, hope the admin staff actually forwards the forms to the right place, and then the middleman will contact insurance to get preauthorization. Dr. Le had given me the impression she would take care of it, which clearly isn't the case. This information was provided by Rome, who was supposed to reach out to me 2 weeks ago to get this process started. Now, I am probably behind schedule in getting medication that could possibly save my life."
"So initially they were great, everything was going smoothly but then came to find out by phone call that they didn't take my insurance after all, even when they checked my insurance which took 10 days and I told them it was medi-cal. Ruined potential 2 months of progress with my ADHD medication and ruined my mental health as well. Thanks for that."
"This place is a hit or miss for me. As a client, I have to stay proactive when reaching out to their providers and getting appointments. Don’t expect the office to stay in touch if you fall off their radar. Their office staff seem pleasant, and I think as long I’m not too confrontational nor rude, they do try to help. As for the providers and therapists, it’s another hit or miss. Some providers can be quite dismissive of patients’ issues and some are pretty understanding and helpful. Therapists may be helpful to others but not for me. None of the therapists have clicked with me, and one of them seemed like she was dazed or daydreaming during the session when talking about issues. Maybe she talks better with others, but she has not for me. My review may improve or change in the future. For now, this is my current opinion about this place."
"Their online system redirects to phone which redirects to text, which redirects to their online system. Called several times, phone kept cutting out as I was connecting to a person. The first person who helped me (who was nice!) failed to tell me that there was a waitlist, and that people who applied to be a patient a month ago were still waiting. The second person I talked to also failed to tell me this (though the phone cut out before I could finish that conversation). The third person I talked to told me only after I asked around timelines of becoming a new patient. Too much loss of trust for me. I hope this is just because they're overwhelmed right now but as-is, I would not recommend."
"I had an appt which was cancelled by the practice and did not receive a follow up call to reschedule. I have since been out of my medication and was told by front desk Hannah and Assistant Manager Ashley that there was nothing they could do. Ashley was very passive aggressive. I do believe to be in this field in this specialty there should be a sense of compassion, which there is none. The provider I was seeing was great, however the front desk is a horrible representation for the practice. Do not go here if you expect professionalism."
