"Back in April, I tore my pec major in training. It was a full rupture that required surgical repair. During the surgery, they discovered that most of the tendon was unusable and they had to suture through what was left and reattach via anchors on the bone. The prognosis was bleak; they expected a couple of months before I could return to any sort of training and 1-1.5 years before I could return to pushing movements at significant load. The surgeon said that it's unlikely I return to my previous level of strength without the repair failing. I was introduced to Norcal Physio by an old friend - a PT herself - who said this was one of the very few clinics in the Sacramento area that she'd recommend for a case like mine. I began working with Eric about 8 weeks post-surgery. I was already exercising in a very limited fashion and still in a sling to immobilize my left arm. I was impressed by how well he'd prepped for our first appointment - he actually took the time to familiarize himself with one of the few research-backed recovery protocols for this type of surgery. There was a lot of manual therapy at first to try to improve range of motion at shoulder. We incorporated drills/exercises to rebuild stability and some strength at that joint over time. Coming from a powerlifting background himself, Eric was able to collaborate with me on training programming to ensure that I was progressing consistently without testing the limits of my recovery too soon. I'm about 9 months post-surgery now. I've been able to return to pretty normal training for all of my lower-body movements. Endurance work is back to 100%. There are still some obvious limitations to my upper-body movements, but I recently reintroduced the barbell bench press. I'm nowhere near where I was before, but I'm grateful to be back under the bar. Whether I'll ever return to the same levels of pressing strength again is still up in the air. I can say with certainty that I have a much better shot of rebuilding with the guidance and assistance of the guys at Norcal Physio."
"I came to NorCal Physio for intense lower back pain whenever I walked for a long distance or ran. From the start, Jessica made me feel heard when I described my pain and experience over the phone, and she helped me find an option that worked for me. Dr. Eric Jacques’ expertise and A+ care allowed me to get back on track to pursuing a life of fitness done right. His knowledge and insight let me learn about my body and provided me with a toolkit I will use forever. Everyone at NorCal Physio is an expert and makes you feel at home—I’ve looked forward to every session I’ve had. Would recommend, 10/10."
"Dr. Eric and the entire team at NorCal Physiotherapy are outstanding. My daughter had an ongoing sports injury and we booked a series of appointments with Dr. Eric to get her back on track. Dr. Eric has been kind, patient, and very thorough in his physical therapy protocols and his instructions for continuous improvement over time. My daughter has been to other physical therapists for sports over the years and has never been as committed or enthusiastic about her recovery since going to NorCal Physiotherapy. Dr. Eric is a true professional and I recommend his practice to anyone considering physical therapy."
"Eric is exceptionally well-versed in human anatomy and sports performance. Working with him has allowed me to improve both my posture and flexibility in order to continue pursuing strength goals and to feel less pain overall. Highly recommend NorCal physio for any physical rehabilitation needs."
"I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Eric Jacques at NorCal Physio and it was without a doubt one of the best decisions that I could have ever made about my overall fitness and relationship to my body. I am no athlete, but have had some emerging issues with my shoulder as well as a cranky hip and knee. Dr. Eric conducted a full body analysis and was able explain the mechanics of my underlying issues and then work with me to develop strategic and gradual exercises that helped me to understand the importance of each activity. He was patient and kind as I backslid repeatedly, but encouraging and unrelentingly persistent. He took a whole-person approach, specifically taking my work and day-to-day into account for each plan he created for me. I always felt like he was invested in my success. If you're even curious about visiting NorCal Physio, I would recommend you go in for at least a consultation. I was interested in preventative care as my body continues to talk to me via new aches and pains, but the commitment they had to my success is why I will go back and encourage everyone else to do the same. Thank you, Dr. Eric! J"
