"I was referred here by my primary care doctor to see an OBGYN, but when I showed up and showed them my insurance card, they told me they cannot see out of network patients and they didn't know why my doctor would have referred me here. I waited 4 months for this appointment so I was disappointed. To my relief, the front desk woman told me the doctor was still able to see me today at NO COST!!!! Wow. They saw me for free, but let me know that they cannot prescribe me medication or do ultrasounds or any other scans without charging me. I understood it was my doctor's fault from another place, not theirs. I am grateful they were even allowed to speak with me. I saw Dr. Edgar and he was incredibly helpful! He took the time to listen without interrupting, he asked me tons of in-depth questions, and gave me multiple suggestions to help. Thank you!"

"Neighborhood Healthcare is an exceptional medical facility; I trust my primary care doctor Melanie Nakamura, MD and believe that every staff member here provides extraordinary care at this clinic. NH is phenomenal in the way that they integrate technology into their practice—they frequently send SMS messages and in-mail notices for everything from appointment reminders to lab results and referral status updates. I feel confident that I am receiving the best care possible here at NH; my insurance (Blue Shield Promise Medi-Cal) works closely with this facility to coordinate general healthcare as well as specialty care services with the best providers in the county (UCSD Medical). When I visit NH for an appointment, I am greeted every time by nurses who have genuine smiles and open hearts. After my visit I am provided with a paper copy of my visit summary and de-briefed on any action items that will take place once I leave. The office staff are proactive in requesting records from other / previous providers and provide rapid service when asked for assistance. If I had to say, my only complaint with NH is the long wait times when reaching the office by phone. However, the doctors’ assistants or front desk can always be reached via an in-app message using the Healow EMR service. In short, I love my care team here at NH and trust them to coordinate all of my healthcare needs with professionalism, attention and compassion. Above and beyond service, every time. The facilities here are clean, beautiful, and state-of-the-art. The staff is fully bilingual and the clinic provides services to a very diverse population. I would highly recommend Neighborhood Healthcare to anyone looking for exceptional medical care with services covered under Medi-Cal / Medicaid."
