"I discharged from Newport August 2023 and let me just say, it was a life changer for me. If I could give Newport (Orange, California) a 10 out of 10 stars, I would. I went to Newport not knowing what to expect. Turns out, it was THE BEST experience ever. I started at Newport severely depressed, with high anxiety, SH, SI, struggles with eating, sleep, trust issues, and family issues. Words cannot express how grateful and appreciative I am to all the staff. The first day I stepped in the door I felt an energy that was so uplifting and comforting. I was able to make so many new strong and healthy connections, especially with the staff. It is clear that the staff at Newport are working there because they genuinely care and it shows through their attitude and interactions. Shoutout to the Hillside RS, Benji Benitez, all the Hillside CC's (Amber, Bre, Bri, Bry, Jess, Julia, Sierra, Virg) and the BEST clinical team I could ever ask for (Betsy Fitzpatrick, Brenda, and Kristin). I have never felt so validated, supported, safe, and cared for in my whole life. The amount of support I got was above and beyond. The staff were always so kind, caring, supportive, motivational, patient with everyone and so on top of things. I learned how to advocate for myself, set boundaries, and so many new skills I continue to use as I move forward in my journey. Thank you so much to the Hillside staff for helping me start a new chapter in my life that I can look back on and see how far I've come in my recovery."
"Newport did a great job selling the facility prior to admission. Things began to fall apart after admission and unfortunately the potential of the program was never fulfilled."
"FACILITIES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TRUSTED WITH MENTAL HEALTH SHOULD BE HELD TO A MUCH HIGHER STANDARD. Was directed to Newport in a crisis situation, only for their staff to repeatedly fall short. I was told I’d be hearing from someone at Newport on February 2nd. I did not receive a call until the 7th, and only because I circled back to inquire about why I hadn’t been contacted like they stated I would. Jenn called, and apologized, but excused it off because of being sick with Covid. WE HAVE LIVED IN COVID FOR THREE YEARS, and you haven’t figured out a backup plan for patients requiring assistance?? Inexcusable. What happens to residential patients when an obvious failure like that occurs? If it’s this disorganized from the outside, I pity the patients that are actively receiving care when a hiatus like this occurs. Jenn placed me in contact with Robyn, and assured me they would see the process through this time. Instead, got placed with an intake specialist and completed the extensive assessment (WHICH IS NOT EASY FOR SOMEONE STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH) only to be told they’re not an option due to the patients date of birth. THE SAME DATE OF BIRTH THAT THEY’VE ALWAYS HAD. Robyn called and explained that she overlooked the date of birth and offered a lackluster apology. Based on the experience with the intake process alone, this facility is not qualified to meet the needs of the patients attempting to rely on them. Any confidence in their ability to provide residential patient care is now null. EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP SHOULD BE PAYING BETTER ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT STAFF IS UNABLE TO PROPERLY EXECUTE THEIR BASIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES - I.E. calling when you say you’re going to (or having someone else do so if you’re unable), and capturing basic patient information (like their birthday)."
"If you are thinking about going here… ask about the rules. Ask about how your toiletries are lucked up every day. Ask about the fact the silverware is locked away. Ask about how you aren’t even allowed to open the fridge without getting written up. If that’s the kind of care you need then please get that level of care. In my own experience this facility was extremely dehumanizing and very detrimental to my mental health. I had gone to a few different programs before coming to Newport and the staff were insistent they had the best treatment program. They were wonderful. Their DBT a d CBT classes were trash compared to what I had experienced before. Six months after leaving this place and I still wake up from nightmares about being kept there with no help to find a better fit. When I expressed that I wasn’t in the right place I was told they wouldn’t help me because it would lower the company ratings. Please don’t go here"
