Reviews of AMFM Mental Health Treatment Center
"Went for a month. Terrible program with incompetent staff. I was denied several of my medications for 25 days after they were prescribed and in the medication cabinet. Staff continued to inform me that I didn’t have any medications for my symptoms and had to call the report line 2 times for human rights violations and both times they went under investigation by the state of California. I’m developing 2 types of cancer and am currently testing, (X-ray and ultrasounds). The doctor would not let me get the blood tests I requested and staff would not tell me the results. Reported to the nurses several times that I’m blowing blood out of my nose and they said that I’ll be fine every time. Was finally given something to help for bleeding 9 days after requested. Had a terrible PTSD episode after I was denied my medication and was told, “You can’t be in here, I’m going to do med count.” None of the staff, including the at home therapist cared. Felt like I had dementia. My biggest problem with the therapist is that I had to have an argument with her about being a mandated reporter. I had told her several times about my complaints and they never changed. Don’t send your family here unless you like their human rights violated."
"I graduated AMFM about a month ago. AMFM gave me a new perspective on my life. It showed me ways to overcome all my challenges. Whether it be a little thing or a big step, I’m capable of choosing how I want to handle things. They gave me a new insight on how to love myself and choose me first. AMFM helped me decide what really matters and how I can benefit from everything life has to offer. I appreciate the staff that helped me. AMFM is a game changer and helped get me to where i wanted to be in life. Thank you all for the love and support I needed. I now have that for myself."
"My encounter with Mission for Michael mental health services fell far short of expectations. Their primary focus is monetary gain rather than fostering mental wellness. The exorbitant fees charged for their services didn't correlate with the level of care provided. Moreover, staff’s lack of empathy and training at Beacon House made it a challenging environment to seek help and heal. They were detached and disinterested in understanding the complexities of mental health struggles. Instead of fostering a supportive atmosphere, their indifferent approach left me feeling isolated and overlooked. Few examples: They were more concerned about me not attending the group classes while sick (most of them were really boring, and facilitators were not skilled and sometimes presenting the same materials that were obviously copy paste ) than providing medical assistance due to my really bad reactions to the new medications they prescribe to almost everyone, leaving me completely paralyzed and non functioning. You only see psychiatrist once a week through zoom and never in person. It’s almost impossible to reach him if it’s not your time to see him since they only have 2 psychiatrist for I believe 18 homes averaging 90-100 people. Staff lacks basic common sense skills when distributing pills and are too lazy to reach nurses to accommodate patients according to their needs. During my 4 day stay I had a severe sore throat and after asking them 4 times, they finally agreed to take me to the urgent care. I was prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication and advised to take them immediately since my condition was very serious and I couldn’t swallow or breath normally. The staff at Beacon house was totally indifferent and it took them 5 hours to get my antibiotics after me having to beg them all evening. And to make things even worse, when they received my medications at 6pm the staff member decided to just give me anti-inflammatory pill immediately (not to mention she give me a wrong dosage since she obviously didn’t read the instructions and did not care) and to wait to give me antibiotics when it’s a “pill time” at 8:30pm. I mean who does this??? She would rather see me suffer and in pain than help. And all she needed to do was call the nurse to get approval for earlier pill distribution due to emergency. I felt like these women were exercising their power over us weak, feeding their egos so they can feel better about themselves. The house was freezing, it was cold outside but they had an ac on the entire time and had no idea how to switch it to heat. So not only that I was battling anxiety, severe sore throat, I was uncomfortable and cold my entire 4 day stay. Also, they did not care if we were asleep and if it’s too late or too early, they were still so loud and laughing during their shift switch that was impossible to sleep through out the night. The energy in the house was really low, depressing, and with very little physical activity programs that are essential in mental health healing and wellness. Unfortunately, there are too many things that this institution failed to provide that I can write for days. Due to the awful experience and my symptoms worsening , I decided to leave after 4 days. During my discharge process I was advised to complain to Marissa Mara- Program Director and billing department since they agreed that the way I was treated was unacceptable. Not only did they display a blatant lack of empathy in person, but their negligence extended to their phone lines. Multiple attempts to reach out for assistance went unanswered and until this day Marissa never called me back or somebody from the billing department. I did make a good decision by leaving. After just 2 weeks being out of the Mission for Michael facility, my condition improved, and now, 2 months later I am back to normal and anxiety free. I recommend you go elsewhere for your mental care needs and don’t waste tons of money here. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!!!!"
"Hello all! I just wanted to write this review in the hopes that someone else will also decide to take the next step on their mental health journey at AMFM. I spent a lot of time in and out of other treatment facilities and really felt like I wasn't being properly cared for or my needs understood until I got here! You really don't think about things like staff-patient ratios, qualifications, or even google ratings until you go to a place that REALLY sucks so I would definitely recommend coming here. Very friendly, very helpful, and actually willing to help you make progress."
