"I recently enrolled my son in Hillside Residential Treatment Center, and overall, our experience was a mix of positive and concerning aspects. The process of getting enrolled was made significantly easier by the director of outreach, Jessica, who was a great listener and made us feel heard and supported. Upon our arrival, we observed a modern facility with a contemporary house surrounded by landscaping that presented opportunities for enhancement. However, House Manager Victor promptly reassured us, acknowledging the ongoing efforts to improve the grounds. While landscaping wasn't a personal concern for us, it was brought to our attention by the staff, indicating their commitment to transparency and continuous improvement. Victor also introduced us to therapeutic activities, such as planting and cleaning, which the boys could participate in. The outdoor amenities at Hillside were impressive, including a half basketball court, pool, ping pong table, foosball table, axe-throwing game (with fake axes), and a boxing bag. Despite the cold pool temperature, it was consistently clean. Victor's guidance during the intake process was reassuring, and he effectively communicated the necessary information. During my son's 70+ days at Hillside, he engaged in various therapies and activities, and I believe he learned valuable techniques for managing anger and challenging days. The diverse staff backgrounds and different activities for the kids were positive aspects. However, there were some concerns, such as the rapid completion of the boys' side of Hillside, leading to a need for long-term staff. One significant challenge was the turnover in therapists, with three different therapists during our time at Hillside. Although therapists communicated well, starting over with each one presented a challenge. Family sessions via Zoom were beneficial, and the clinical director, Felica, provided great support even after my child left. One notable issue was the school component. Promised assistance in contacting the school and setting up assignments fell short, leaving my child needing schooling for weeks. Even after establishing contact with the school, staff assistance with homework did not meet expectations. In conclusion, Hillside Residential Treatment Center offers a variety of therapies and appears genuinely committed to helping. While there were positive aspects, the turnover in therapists and challenges with the school component were notable concerns that impacted our overall experience. Furthermore, it is crucial to address a significant aspect of our experience at Hillside Residential Treatment Center: the communication challenges. During the intake process, Victor conveyed that no news meant things were going well. Unfortunately, this communication approach had its drawbacks. A notable incident occurred when my son had to be taken to the emergency room. Shockingly, I was informed a week later during our family session. While the issue was minor, the need for more timely communication about such a crucial matter raised concerns. More precise and more immediate communication channels, especially in cases involving the well-being of the residents, would have significantly improved our experience. This communication gap was a notable drawback in an otherwise complex evaluation of our time at Hillside. Additionally, it's important to highlight my son's perspective on his experience at Hillside Residential Treatment Center. While he found the 70+ days lengthy, he expressed a positive sentiment regarding the connections he established and the coping mechanisms he gained during his time there. His experience was marked by a sense of connection and the acquisition of diverse coping strategies, contributing to his overall well-being. This personal perspective adds a valuable dimension to our comprehensive assessment of Hillside."

My daughter gained a lot of knowledge and learned to love herself as well as others throughout her stay at Hillside.
