"I wanted to share my personal journey on compound semaglutide in hopes that it helps anyone thinking about starting. I had heard about the medication for a few months before I started, and honestly had an array of emotions, thoughts and questions about it. How would the side effects be? Will it actually work? Are people going to tell me I am “cheating” my way through weight loss? But I was so unhappy in my post-partum body, felt so bloated all of the time, could not control my eating (often times emotional eating), and overall just in a bad place for my mental health. In October of 2023, I came to Veritas Medical Center, still a little hesitant of starting this (I had never done anything like this before!), and I was met with the most kind, empathetic, REAL staff ever! My first consult was with Cory and hearing her personal journey through weight loss, knowing that she can relate to all of the feelings I had was very comforting. Dr. Du was so knowledgeable and made me feel very safe starting. Doing the injections myself initially was very daunting, but the staff there are more than happy to help do it for you, but after a few weeks I got the hang of doing it myself. When I tell you after the first week the food noise was silenced… it was truly the most freeing experience I have ever had. I have always been known as a “foodie”, someone who constantly thought about food, always wanted to be eating… and now I feel like I can focus on so many other aspects of my life. How I describe it to my friends is, I still get hungry, but it’s like a muted hunger… where I don’t feel in pain because I need to eat. I also try to eat primarily a pretty clean whole foods diet plus exercising 3 days a week, I have lost 30lb so far! I am down from a size 10-12 to a size 6! I still want to lose about 20 more pounds, but I am feeling SO strong, and so healthy… which is everything I wanted for myself. I can’t thank the staff at Veritas enough for the new life they’ve given me! Thank you!"
