Reviews of Sweden House Hotel
"My best friend and I booked a room here looking for budget options while we attend the local conference. We had booked a room that was supposed to have a bunk bed, we were given a room with a double bed, the photos are incredibly deceptive, the gold trim is spray painted plaster and only lasts until the lobby area, if you can call it that: Pipers were sticking out of the walls, all the windows were wide open for any vagrant to sneak in and there's no security. Management told us they could switch us to a new room basically a day before we left. Night one we found a roach in the closet, Morning three a roach in the bed, I have bedbug bites as well on my arms. The room had graffiti all over it: Mirrors, doors, and walls. There was no visible kitchen to speak of, and the shared bathrooms were a trainwreck. There were people out in the hall shouting consistently throughout the night and slamming doors. Management themselves were hardly around and ineffectual at best. All for over $100/night. This was not worth it at all, if you're down on your luck and need a place for the night there are many better and cheaper options."
"When looking for a hotel in one of the most expensive cities on the planet, when you choose to book at the cheapest hotel in town, so cheap it doesn't even require a security deposit, you are getting exactly what you are paying for. This hotel saw me through a very rough time in my life and I will always be exceptionally grateful to the owners and staff for the nights I spent there. That said, if you want a day spa and room service this isn't that. If you want a clean room, a safe environment, and on a budget, this is an excellent option."
"This was one of the most disgusting places I have ever seen. What the owners are doing to their guests should be illegal due to the lies that are portrayed online. The second we saw our room we got out of there. The beds looked like they had bed bugs and the outside was too sketchy to leave the car by itself for a while. Not to mention the area is filled with homeless to the point where you don’t even feel safe walking around. I hope no one ever decides to stay here because we drove around and found much cleaner and better motels for a similar price in better areas."
"Please, even though the price per night is pretty cheap in this hotel if you compare it with other hotels/accommodations in SF, don't book your stay here. You have to put more effort in it than you should. We booked our stay over hotels.com for two people for two nights. It was pretty spontaneous, but that shouldn't be an issue usually. Before we booked our stay, we thought the pictures online were really pretty and we were expecting that the pictures were describing the actual rooms pretty accurate. Well, we were wrong. When we checked we were even told that there is a room just for one night available even though I had my confirmation for two nights and so I showed that. Well eventually they told us they gonna transfer us to a different and we don't have to take care of our luggage, they gonna transfer it. We spent there one night, cause the second night we were there right after check in time, but they told us the room is taken by someone else, so we got kicked out of the hotel and for a short time we had nowhere to stay. Even though they told us they transfer our luggage and give us a new key, nothing happened. We had to get our stuff from our former room and had to leave. It is ridiculous and until now (over a month later) we haven't gotten our refund back. Such a mess and a lot of work for us. It is really not worth it. There are other places that are cheaper and seriously cleaner"
"My experience was not so bad considering the price I paid for a 2 night stay. I stayed the night to run the San Francisco Marathon and it was relatively close to the starting line. The room I stayed in was acceptable because all I was really looking for was a place to sleep. It had a bunk bed [I was staying by myself] but, I only used the bottom bunk, a small fridge, a sink, a microwave, a closet with no door handle and the metal hangers where all bent up, and a dresser with one drawer missing. the room doesn't have a trash can. there was a mickey mouse done to the door where they taped the metal slab to the wall, but I made sure that it securely locked itself. The floor had certain areas where it would creek if you stepped on it. The hotel has a shared bathroom [very modern; second floor] for the hall which I was okay with because, you know, college student. It has a gate in the front of the hotel that you can easily enter with a sensor chip the assistant gives you. The assistant was really helpful as he answered all the questions I had. Smelled like weed in certain areas of the hotel. Good WiFi. I guess coming from Los Angeles, this place wasn't as bad for me as it was for all the other people with negative reviews."
