"In 2000, I was dying and I didn’t know why. Unable to continue to work I had no insurance and was desperate for help! A friend of a friend told me of Dr Emmanuel Lim. Not able to pay for the visit I went in to see him. He was willing to see me for over 6 months without any compensation while he filed for disability for me and he got to work with the business of diagnosing my condition. It seems that I had HEPATITIS C and had had it for 18 years. He worked very hard to obtain what was at the time an experimental treatment for me. At the time I had less than 3 months to live. "I'm 60. I was diagnosed with HIV in 1985 and with AIDS in 1989. I was a very promiscuous little boy and started having lots of sex with many partners at 15. In those days all one could get from unprotected sex was Siphilis and Ghonnorrhea. I got my first STD's at 16. So I went to the free health clinic at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center. Dr. Paul Keith volunteered there at night and that's where I met him. When I started selling real estate at 18, it occurred to me that if I just made an appointment with Dr. Keith's office, that I wouldn't have to wait in the long line at the Free Clinic. That was 42 years ago. I was diagnosed with HIV in 1985, because that's when they invented the first HIV test; but I likely have had HIV since 1977. I'm not a "slow-progressor," I was just lucky to be a patient of Dr. Keith's. After Dr. Keith died of Cancer, Dr. Emmanuel Lim took over Dr. Keith's practice. Dr. Lim, besides being a brilliant doctor, also became a good friend. Dr. Lim is a doctor that you can confide in. He won't judge you, he's seen everything, he will just make you healthy. So if you want to be healthy and to live a really long life and to make a good friend, consider making an appointment to see Dr. Lim. So I have been living with HIV now for about 40 years and if you met me, you would never know it."
