"My wife and I recently finished our Open Water Diver Certification with Pacific Ocean Water Sports (POWS) and had a blast. I heard about POWS from a friend and talked to the owner, Mauri, in December as I was considering getting scuba certification for my wife as a Christmas present. He talked with me for over an hour and described the whole process. Mauri and his team emphasized safety throughout the course - during the online theory classes, the pool sessions, and ocean dives. As an added bonus, Mauri suggested we do our ocean certification dives in Catalina. Mauri, Tara (instructor in training), and Iman (divemaster) from POWS introduced us to the wonderful world of scuba diving. We saw Garibaldi, schools of bass, kelp forests, star fish, sheephead, and even a boat wreck. "I found out about this place almost a year ago and I have taken multiple courses through this place. Mauri the owner as well as the instructor does an excellent job in teaching. He has guided me through the process from switching from warm water to cold water (I had gotten my OW over seas before meeting Mauri), after several courses I am finally able to do fun dives with others without hesitating. I would defiantly suggest this place to anyone who either wants to start diving or wants to get back into diving!! In addition, I have purchased most of my gear especially my wetsuit through this dive shop, thanks to Wendy who measured every pits and pieces of me to get me first and I think last costume wetsuit which I am in love with. He has an abundance of knowledge when it comes to scuba diving or water sports in general and makes sure you have the best time possible. Safety is his top priority and for a good reason.
