Reviews of Garrod Farms
"Horseback trail ride is a great way to connect with nature. It is relaxing as well. Dillon was our horseback riding tour guide and he was wonderful on showing us the basics of riding a horse. The staffs were welcoming and fun to talk to. I end up riding with 4 other people in the group but we also had 2 annoying Turkish men who were disrespectful and couldn't even speak a bit of English or follow the rules. Then I knew they were a bunch of illegals because they lied and claimed they were raised in Texas (due to the current event of the immigration situation) and came to California for work. Anyways, the Turkish guys ruined my experience and other guests' trail ride experience, but Dillion helped and managed it well. Kudos to Dillon for his patience."
"I made a new friend named Oakley today. He was a great partner on the trail ride. Our guide, Lucy, did a fantastic job. I will say I was a little lost when I arrived so I will give you some quick tips to help you when you go. 1) When you arrive and park, follow the sign's marked "Office" to the left and follow the small walk up to the office on your left. 2) No need to wait outside on the benches, go on into the office and fill out your paperwork so you can get on your way. 3) No purses or backpacks can go with you on the ride so go ahead and leave those in your car or the folks in the office are happy to keep them safe for you in the office. 4) ENJOY! I haven't done a trail ride before and I had a great time. The views on the trails are fantastic! 5) Repeat if you have the opportunity, the folks here were great!"
"I started coming to Garrod for trail rides as a teenager while taking lessons at a different local [now-closed] stables, and always loved the experience. As I got older I stopped riding, time and money both being at a premium for a young adult, but am so glad I came back to it last year. Fortunately Garrod is still as wonderful as it was in the fond memories of my youth! I've been coming for weekly group Western lessons and fitting in weekend trail rides when my schedule permits, and both are great experiences. The staff and instructors are informed and passionate, and they're well in tune with the horses' needs, health, and individual personalities. A lot of the fun of becoming a regular again is seeing what horses they match me up with: every one brings something different to the experience, and if I'm riding a mount I don't know the staff can always give me some good information about what to expect and what works or doesn't work well. As someone who can most kindly be described as 'indoorsy', the trail rides are my main form of connecting with nature. The farm and preserve are gorgeous, and the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. It's obviously a different experience moseying through the greenery vs doing patterns or cantering in the arena, but both have their place in my heart. In our fast-paced lives it can be easy to forget how lucky we are to have such natural beauty essentially right in our backyards, but a trail ride at Garrod is a great way to appreciate it."
"We had a GREAT experience here. It’s my first time leave a comment on Google because the instructors there were soooo kind and helpful. We booked a trail riding there. I went with my mom, she was not a English speaker and never rode a horse. She was also kinda afraid on her horse, one of the instructor tried to help her by telling what to do but she couldn’t understand, so she took my mom’s horse with her the entire ride. I was so impressed that she was amazingly patient the entire time and didn’t give up on her. The horses were generally well behaved, the trail was kinda hard the day we came because of the rain, I was worried at first but everything turned out fine. Also the views were amazing, my dad loved their wine there. Thank you guys so much for bring us such a great day."
"Went here to celebrate sons b-day with their school friends. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They offer rides for kids as young as 5-6 and above. My 6 year old loved the horse ride. Very scenic place. Will definitely try again."
