Reviews of One Medical: Emeryville
"I was assigned to a physician at OneMedical through my insurance HMO but could not make an appointment online without paying their $200/year membership. It took me three tries to get on the phone with someone. The man on the phone was extremely nice, so one star for that I guess? However, I was then informed that I would have to pay $200/year to use the app. Without it, I could get a “Limited Access” membership which would not allow me to use the app, and I would only be able to call to make appointments and get information. I have a few issues with this. First, many medical groups now use MyChart where you can make appointments and send secure messages online through the portal. I have used MyChart with a number of physicians over the past few years and it does not cost me $200/year. Second, if it took me three tries to get on the phone with someone this time, I do not want this to happen again when I actually have a medical issue. Third, One Medical is being bought by Amazon so do with that information what you will. All in all, I would like to thank the guy on the phone for finally answering my call and giving me all this information before I signed away my private health details to Jeffrey Bezos. I’ll consider this a bullet dodged. Just go to Stanford across the street or any of the dozens of great healthcare providers all over the bay area."
"One Medical is not worth the subscription. You’re constantly encouraged to use online messaging and remote visits rather than see a doctor. And when you do manage to see a doctor, the cost is outrageous. $520 for a 10 minute visit about a minor issue. These fees are not quoted in advance, and when I complained, I was told to discuss it with my insurance company. I’m canceling my membership and moving to Stanford Health which is right across the street."
"This is hands down the best medical experience I have had- and I work in health for another major SF healthcare provider. They are professional, friendly, the website/app are intuitive and easy-to-use. I needed to talk to someone in the company ASAP on a Saturday morning as my paperwork was sent to the wrong lab- had the problem fixed quickly and easily."
"$680 for a 10-minute visit to diagnose tennis elbow. Theoretically extra expensive because of "new-patient procedures" (nothing apparent during my visit) and "additional documentation for a specific problem" (if there was additional documentation, I didn't see it, I received only verbal instructions to ice, take anti-inflammatories, and buy an elbow brace). They're impossible to get on the phone and contact via the web app has a 3-4 day turnaround time after every message. Super expensive and unresponsive. Would not recommend."
"I really liked the office, friendly clean and free parking. I appreciated that they had masks in case you forgot one. I have been working with the same primary care provider and she is very responsive in the app. She listens to me and I appreciate that . I love that I can see my lab results and schedule a same day appointment if needed."
