Steak & Bones Tacos

"Our party of 4 went on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. There were seats at the bar and 2-4 person high and low tables. Because it’s in Hillcrest, we had a rough time looking for street parking- ended up finding a spot a couple blocks down. We ordered from the Specialty Tacos list: Steak and Bones, Bad to the Bone, and El Presidente. The tacos were surprisingly large! *Steak and Bones: full sized grilled rib eye tender steak slabbed on a corn tortilla— definitely can’t eat it like a normal taco *Bad to the Bone: fall-off-the-bone beef rib on a corn tortilla *El Presidente: 3 large pieces of garlic shrimp on a corn tortilla— so good! We also ordered the *Steak and Bone Fries and the *Steak and Bone Nachos. These 2 were just okay for us. The nachos were crunchy but these were smaller portions served on big plates which made it look underwhelming. Our server was attentive and service was pretty quick, considering how large the meats were. I’d come back for their Specialty tacos!"

"Saw this place pop up on my Instagram feed and decided to give it a try. Ample parking with meters $1.25hr. Nice inviting atmosphere, staff was friendly! Plenty of salsas to choose from. I tried the steak taco and it was really salty but the handmade corn tortillas were great. TJ carne asada taco was decent. The bone in braised taco was probably the best I had here. Be mindful there could be a small bone or two once you slide the tender meat off of the bone! I would recommend this place and tell me what you enjoyed."

"These are some of the best tacos in San Diego! Stopped by here for a quick lunch and got one novelty taco and one street taco. They give you a whole ribeye steak on a tortilla for only $10, can’t beat that price! The steak was extremely tender in both tacos and packed a lot of flavor. The service was great and quick, they gave me all five salsa flavors to try out for myself. Check this place out!"

"Might be the best tacos I’ve ever had and the prices are insanely good for what you get. $10 for a taco with a freshly made tortilla, salsa, and an entire steak inside? Unreal. The meat was cooked perfectly and each taco was so thoughtfully constructed. On top of that the service was fantastic. Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this place before, truly a hidden gem."
