Infectious Disease Clinic in Palo Alto

"The Stanford CFS Clinic is the least ethical and least caring medical clinic I've ever experienced. I became a patient here in 2020, when all appointments were virtual. For the first year, I had a great provider (Sangeetha Kandan). After she left, I was bounced around a bit, then was told that I could only continue to receive services if I could visit in person. I live about 3 hours away, and have been told (by this clinic!) not to drive for more than 90 minutes. Additionally, I have 3 children with disabilities, and my husband passed away in 2021. I went to great lengths to try to attend in person, including renting an RV so that my children and I could make the drive, stay overnight in an RV park, and then attend the appointment the next day. The clinic was unable to offer any help regarding transportation between the RV park and the clinic, as I'm in a wheelchair. They did not even return my phone calls, and a Stanford social services referral was useless. I no longer have prescriptions for the medications they had me on for two years, and was not given a referral for a provider closer to home. I found two local physicians (one through UC Davis) who were willing to work with the clinic by seeing me in person and exchanging information with the physicians via video visit, but the clinic didn't respond to my queries about receiving care in this increasingly-common manner. I also have the impression that between 2020 and 2023, they lost most, if not all, of their seasoned physicians and physician's assistants. In sum, if you are actually very ill with CFS, this clinic will not accommodate the very disabilities caused by the illness."

"I have a very bad experience with stanford. I had a referral faxed to them 3 week ago to the number they provided. I called to see why I did not get a call for an appointment and they gave me another number to fax them. I have the fax sent to the new number and called again. They still did not get the fax and asked to send again. I am not sure if this institute has any process or policies to support patients. It appeared that no one care,."

"My doctor provide a referral for ME CFS. I called several times trying to reach someone to set-up an appointment. I finally got through and they told the referral was misplaced. They finally found it and I booked an appointment more than 8 months out. Now three months before my appointment, I started to wonder why I haven’t heard from them about labs, records, etc. I called and guess what, they have NO RECORD of the appointment but they see the referral which has now expired. Is this an elitist place, where you have to know someone to get in? The complete ineptitude is Rhonda concerning. As another reviewer said, good luck getting an appointment. Does this place actually help people or just cause stress."

"If I could, I'd give them ZERO stars. They cancelled an appointment I had waited MONTHS for due to COVID. Fine. They have been IMPOSSIBLE to reschedule the appointment with the doctor. I've been trying for over a month. They should be ashamed."
