"Zero star actually! Don't go to this place for primary care! Went to this place about 4 month ago for an annual check with Dr Kim, which is suppose to be covered 100% by the insurance. I called 10+ times to get the appointment just because this place is convenient to me. However, I was billed $500+ out-of-pocket. They claim that this is an establish care not annual check. However, they never state this information during the call or during the check. Honestly there is nothing different during the visit, height/weight, blood pressure, lab tests order etc. Wrote an appeal email but never got responses."
"Only open on two weekdays of a week for X-rays. They have not specified basic info like this anywhere. Their automated call system only mentioned walk-in scheduling. Avoid this place when your primary care suggests it."
"My PCP and my kids’ pediatrician are in the office. They are so patient, knowledgeable, always base their feedback/advice on latest literature. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Also, having access to the broader UCSF system in case of specific issue is great."
"Last 09/2022, I had to switch my PCP from SF Gen to UCSF bcoz I needed to have Pituitary Adenoma surgery (excellent!) . To do that, I had to go all the way to UCSF San Mateo 2.5 hours away via Muni/BART/Muni from SF to be accepted as a new adult patient (as I don’t have a car) & SF locations do not accept new adult patients at that time. M I must say that the entire experience at this San Mateo office was superb, and memorable. The staff at the reception were great, helpful and polite. Dr. Kim, my PCP was fabulous, warm, and caring. They even fitted me for my annual mammogram next door so that I don’t have to make a 2nd trip. The staff next door too were friendly, patient & kind. I highly, highly recommend anyone looking for your PCP to go there. It’s been 6 months since and I’m still extremely happy to have found them. Update: Went for my post surgery follow up visit on 5/18/23 as I’ve been telling Dr. Kim about the mobility issues on my left arm and entire upper left body which are extremely tight & uncomfortable since the triple bypass surgery on 4/7/23. done at UCSF Parnassus. I could only sleep on my right side and only then in a sitting position . Even tho I’m now getting a weekly 15-16 mins soft tissue therapy from a chiropractor, this only helps for 2 days and then the muscles and nerves in said region would revert back to their unnatural tight & lock position. Dr. Kim sent me for X-rays which I quickly went last Friday 5/19/23. Hopefully she’ll help me find a better solution to this problem caused by an arrogant & inept female cardiac thoracic surgeon at UCSF Parnassus. Since I’m left handed, this issue is quite detrimental to me daily. I cannot brush my teeth or comb my hair with my left hand. I had thot I cud recover quickly from bypass surgery and resume working after 6-8 weeks. But this is not to be. No job = no income. I’m also exploring other options with Dr. Kim to get this issue resolved. She has been quite patient and sympathetic thru it all."
"I've been trying to resolve a billing problem with UCSF Primary Care in San Mateo for the last 6 months. They have yet to submit revised billing codes for lab work that is standard, preventative care that should be covered 100% by my insurance, if the doctor (I saw Dr. Mimi Ogawa for this visit) had used the correct billing codes. While the communication with the doctor's office has been cordial, the billing department is incredibly rude and constantly disputed that the care I received would be considered preventative. I am tired of the back and forth so I have to file an appeal through my insurance now. Avoid this place unless you want to deal with a billing headache for months."
