About the Lighthouse Visitor Center
The Lighthouse Visitor Center is a travel agency located at 27000 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Inverness, California, United States. The center provides information about the historic Point Reyes Lighthouse, which was built in 1870 to warn ships of navigational hazards along the Point Reyes Headlands. The lighthouse served for 105 years before being retired in 1975. The National Park Service now preserves this maritime heritage site.
Visitors can access the Lighthouse Visitor Center by walking uphill for 0.45 miles from the parking lot, and then descending 313 steps to reach the lighthouse. The center is open at specific times, so it is recommended to check the Visitor Centers page for hours of operation. The parking lot has limited space, with only 38 spots available, so visitors may need to park along the road if the lot is full.
RVs and trailers are not permitted in the lighthouse parking lot, and overnight parking/camping is prohibited throughout Point Reyes National Seashore. Visitors are advised to stay on designated paths and not hike along the bluff tops to protect vegetation and prevent erosion. The lighthouse area has accessible parking and facilities for individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair-accessible paths and restrooms.
Overall, the Lighthouse Visitor Center offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of the Point Reyes Lighthouse and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Point Reyes Headlands. Visit the center to learn more about this iconic landmark and plan your visit to this historic site.

Reviews of Lighthouse Visitor Center
"I've been pretty much all over California except for some small areas up Way North and this is one of my favorites if not the favorite"
"As soon as we arrived at the Point Reyes Lighthouse Visitor Center, I was struck by the incredibly windy conditions. The gusts nearly blew us over as we exited our car. However, I welcomed the blustery weather as it only added to the rugged, natural beauty of the landscape. Once outside, the vistas were spectacular, in particular looking out over the Pacific Ocean and the wind-swept hills. It was a scenic, thrilling visit that I won't soon forget! I can’t wait to return to the lighthouse again soon!"
"This is a must visit place and you have to be there on time. I have seen a few people struggling with time and couldn't reach there to see the beauty of sunset. If you reach at around 3-4.00 pm you might get the visitor centre open. Unfortunately we couldn't get to the light house as it was locked possibly due to rough sea."
"Highly recommend Point Reyes Lighthouse. The National Park Service claims that Point Reyes is the "windiest place on the Pacific coast and the second foggiest place on the North American continent," and I think that's true, as you can see from the photo. Well, I have a tip for you to take warm things with you so you don't get cold. The information banner inside the lighthouse says that there is fog 200 days a year. Keep in mind that to get to the lighthouse, you should plan your visit time from 10am to 4pm."
"Nice little hike. Missed the 30 story building stair hike to the actual light facility, but enjoyed the view from the lookout at the base of the original light house. The whale bones were cool and the views were gorgeous. Thank the lord for the nice clean restroom facility."
