"I did this with my retirement-age parent and we had a BLAST! The guide was great at checking in with how people were feeling as there was a range of ages with us. The kayaking was very easy physically and I don’t think anyone was tired or sore as you take many breaks. We got to see seals and sea lions and the small cave kayaking was unlike any other experience. This is SO worth it. Entire gig is probably an hour and a half but you take a ton of small breaks and I know they wouldn’t leave anyone behind. Check the weather and the swell of the ocean to make sure it’ll be a good time to do it, we got lucky. No one was taking photos and you do get a little wet so wear water shoes and breathable shorts or pants (no one was in bathing suits though). I had a good pocket for my phone but others brought a plastic bag to keep it dry - maybe if I did it again I would get a cheap disposable waterproof camera. Overall I would say this is a MUST-DO if you’re visiting or passing by Mendocino"
"Did the 9am sea cave tour for $80/person. Loved it. Saw seals, starfish, sea urchins, abalone, edible seaweeds. Lots of fun!"
"It was awesome, the caves were cool, and the water was calm. I had zero experience with kayaking before this. If I can do it so can you. You pay with your credit card when you get there."
"My children/family loved the cave tour! But I’m giving only 4 stars because I feel it could have been better. We planned a trip to Mendocino just for the kayak cave tour! Six of us went, 21 year old severely disabled son, 17 year old son, 15 year old son, 13 year old daughter, fit 73 year old grandmother, and mom, myself, pretty fit, runs 7 miles a day and hikes a lot. We have kayaked many places, the elk horn slough, the delta, del valle, big bear lake, many lakes and I’ve always paddled with my son who has special needs so the others can enjoy themselves! Weve even white water rafted a couple of times I was not prepared for the ocean waves, and how hard it was to actual paddle and steer with the weight distribution. My son in the front at 220 and myself at 140. I felt very unsafe but didn’t speak up as to not ruined the other kayakers experience. 13 tandem kayaks including us, and 2 guides. Long story short a wave knocked us out of our kayak, I was scared, more scared for my son… The great part, the guides were calm and got us back on the kayak and safe! So, all my kids absolutely love sea life, the ocean and caves! You can’t really understand how amazing it is till you go through them But I do feel for a group that size there should have been atleast 3 to 4 guides…."
"This tour is AWESOME! The owner was our guide and possessed a TREMENDOUS amount of knowledge about the local area as well as general knowledge of the sea, tides, wildlife, reading the waves, weather, and kayaking. He was incredibly flexible with our schedule/needs and gave us an amazing experience for a VERY reasonable price. We saw seals, starfish, huge waves (but were kept extremely safe the entire time), and sea caves. The waves kept us out of some of the caves, but we saw others nonetheless. He even offered to take us out again for free to get inside the other caves. Been on MANY adventure tours, but seldom do I come across a guide/owner that has such a breadth of knowledge. He simply wants people to get the experience of the spectacular Mendocino coast, the money is secondary. This is not a solicited advertisement. This is just how GREAT of an experience my wife and I had! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Sea stacks, sea caves, beautiful blue water, possibly big waves off shore, seals, sea lions, amazing guide/local information, superb safety (he even spoke of towing people that had a hard time paddling back by pulling them with his own kayak), perfect weather, and INCREDIBLE scenery. Couldn't ask for a better tour, and the price is honestly less than many lower quality tours/excursions. A++++++++"
