Reviews of Teresa Geisinger, NP
"I’ve waited a long time to make this review but I want to share my experience with Dr . Geisinger . I took my mom to Trinity Medical after I had spoken with a staff member over the phone regarding a g-tube removal . My mom had suffered a stroke and needed a g-tube for feedings , however working alongside a speech therapist and registered dietician she had made progress and was consuming enough liquids and calories to no longer need tube feedings . When I made the appointment I verified with the person on the phone and asked if I needed any type of notes from the speech therapist or dietitian to confirm that my mom was consuming the adequate amount of fluids and calories and she assured me that I didn’t need anything I just had to come down to the office . The staff was great when we got there , but then Dr.Geisinger and a colleague told me that the removal would not be possible because my mom had failed her swallow study. It is important to note that they did not perform this study a speech therapist performed this study at a different facility that is not associated with Trinity . At this point my mom got very upset and emotional because we were under the impression it would be removed , and her therapist had also refrained from using the word failed because my mom had so much anxiety over her swallow study . At this point my mom was upset because she was hearing a doctor completely unrelated to her therapy care use the word “ failed “. It’s important to note that after her stroke my mom’s cognitive abilities and her mental health declined drastically . Anything new or drastic had to be carefully explained to her because of her debilitating anxiety post stroke . The doctor explained to me why it shouldn’t be removed and her recommendations which I 100% understood . My frustration was with the way this was all handled . I asked the doctor why someone on the phone said otherwise and her response was something along the lines of “ well they don’t really know the process “ . I don’t think that is an acceptable response . No staff member should be scheduling appointments for a procedure if they do not know how inform families adequately about the requirements for that procedure . I will not imply on how people felt or what they were thinking but I will state facts . During my inquiry for answers I got eye rolls from her colleague , the doctors nose was flaring when she didn’t like what I had to say , and the doctor was chewing gum as she was explaining things to my mom and I . The doctor also got upset because I asked if I could call my mom’s speech therapist to clarify her findings because I believed Dr. Geisingers’ interpretation and my understanding of the swallow study did not align . They told me I didn't need to call the therapists , but I did so regardless . I informed them that the therapist would be happy to speak to them to clarify the swallow study report but they refused to make that phone call and get clarification . I want to clarify that I was not upset that it couldn’t be removed I was upset in the brazen way the news was delivered and the way the conversations were handled by the doctor and her colleague . It was honestly handled very poorly. I will say that they eventually removed the tube because they saw the distress it was causing my mom . I would however never return here unless I had no option."
"It has been a long time since I have been to a Dr. Office and they sit down and actually listen to you. What an awesome NP Teresa Geisinger and Medical assistant Eliana! Wonderful experience, great staff!"
"Teresa Geisinger, and her assistant were absolutely lovely to work with. They were both professional, thorough, and witty. Extremely talented customer service! I feel I’m in good hands, which put me at ease, with whatever seems to be going on with my health."
"Teresa was knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. What I appreciated most was Teresa's focus on listening. It is a rare medical professional, in my experience, who truly takes the time and effort to listen and understand their patients' issues. She and her assistant were patient listeners and came up with a plan of action that made good sense."
