"This is the first and last time I use this hospital. I was sent to the ER from urgent care. Turns out I have pancreatitis. I arrived in the ER at 3:45pm yesterday. It is 4:18am right now. I was told I was being admitted at 9pm and have spent 7 hours waiting for a room in the ER. It wouldn't be such a problem if it didn't take over an hour to get pain meds because the ER nurses couldn't get ahold of the ordering physician because I'm supposed to be admitted, not in the ER. I asked for pain meds and was told the nurse would come right back with meds. I waited an hour before i called again and another nurse came in saying she had sent the other one on break and that they were having trouble getting meds ordered. I am uncomfortable, in pain, with loud beeping, people talking all night long (I get it's an ER but I was supposed to be in a room), and another sick/drunk patient in the room with me making crazy noises. I have been awake for 24 hours now and feel horrible."
"If I could give a zero I would! This hospital ( UC Hillcrest) is the worst ever. My Mother has been suffering here for almost two months. Every time we arrive to check on her she is full of feces and in terrible pain! Charge nurse for today is Lynette stated that if the our busy I could take an hour or more for her to be changed. We wait over an hour for a nurse to come clean her or gives pain meds . Every couple days her pain meds are removed and by the time we arrive and realize she has suffered the entire day. If anyone has any resources that could help us with the neglect at this facility please share !My Mother entered this hospital December 14 th for a planned procedure of having a stint placed in an artery. Since then she has had multiple surgeries for bleeding on her brain, Aneurysm, four surgeries, multiple procedures and multiple hospital related infections. As well as new skin break downs , constant pain , aspiration/ choking incident ( No clear documents of incident. We have had to now have a family member her ever night to ensure she is being cared for as well as the day time. Anyone we aren’t here , when we arrive she is laying in her own feces and it’s taken over an hour to get assistance. She has been left suffering all day today as she was not given any of her scheduled pain medication until I arrived and asked why she wasn’t receiving the medication and was told it wasn’t scheduled. I called the charge nurse in after waiting an hour for her to be cleaned up (Lynette 10th floor) and she checked and confirmed that she did have pain medication available after all. I also asked the charge nurse why it takes over an hour for her to get cleaned up and it was unacceptable for a patient laying in feces for over an hour. She stated that if the are busy then it could take over an hour! I asked to speak with her higher up and she stated she didn’t have one.She proceeded to walk out the room and when I asked for her name she stated she is the charge nurse ( completely unacceptable! As I’m still here at the hospital with my mother 5:30 pm February 1st I have had the call light on again for another hour because my Mom is in horrible pain. It’s now 6:15 pm and the call light still hasn’t been answered. I can see the nurses enjoying laughs and chatting away while my Love one suffers. My Mother’s nurse today is named “ Kiely Joe ).At this point with what we have experienced over the past several weeks with the level of care at Uc Hillcrest, we need assistance with patients advocating and someone to support the patients well being with serious urgency. Patients should never be tortured like this !"
"My highest regards to Agent Corina who went above and beyond to be kind and knowledgeable. I was very happy to visit this hospital with a friend and this lady was what you would call a perfect representation of this hospital. Thank you so much Agent Corina!"
"My home nurse said I needed to get to the ER ( explanation at bottom) so I called UCSD La Jolla ( my usual stop) but was told they were super busy. A family member suggested I try the UCSD Hill Crest location instead. I phoned them and was told to come down right away as there was not a long wait time . And so I jumped in my car and made the 43 mile trek from north county. Sure enough , there was only a handful of folks in waiting room. The wait to get the bed/ IV hooked up was close to two hours, no big deal as that’s reasonable. Here’s where things went South: I was introduced to my assigned nurse by the IV technician. Her name was Amanda V. ( chubby white girl) . That was the last I saw of her during the 4 hour wait on the bed. This ain’t my fist rodeo as I’ve been doing this going on 3/12 years- she gave me no updates, offer of a blanket- place was freezing, no offer of a bottle of water and not even a “ how are you doing” in that four our span. During my wait I met with Dr. Jason Mallet ( African American guy). I told him my story, he seemed to know about the bladder cancer and my nephrostomy tube implant. No problem there. . Three hours later he comes in and tells me that the surgeons went home and I need to spend the night and ill have surgery the next day but the schedule is not definitive. I tell him I can’t stay overnight as my dog is outside with expecting 30 degree weather that night ( Jan 7th). I also mention that I am currently without insurance at that I can’t afford two visits to the ER ( following day as well because I cannot do overnight) His response to my concern verbatim was “ Oh , you’re gonna pay”. Now that comment I found unnecessary, sorta like kicking someone when they’re down. The nurse was non- existent, the 5 1/2 hour wait was rough, especially with no updates whatsoever and in the end to be told the surgeons have gone home, just brutal. But that comment was like a knife. Totally unnecessary and makes me think this Dr. has a chip on his shoulder . Aren’t we all struggling financially. I know I’m barely keeping my head above water. My message to nurse Amanda V & Dr. Jason Mallet is to get some manners. You work in the health care field, THE FREAKIN ER NO LESS!!!!! , where people are in crisis situations. A lesson or course in Humanity 101 I highly suggest. I will never go there again and will be visiting UCSD La Jolla from here on out. The difference is night and day. BTW, I needed to go to the ER due to a nephrostomy tube getting yanked out of my back. Without tube, my kidney is exposed because now there is just a hole there. Infection there could be incredibly difficult or possibly deadly. Also battling bladder cancer for last three years. These were all things that they knew and were made aware of."
"Very bad service ... too long waiting time without any updates ... very poor service ... this is not an emergency at all . NO , NO , NO .... never ever to go to UC San Diego in future . Very bad experience. US San Diego managers & management , you have to take action to improve yourself . Please if anyone can forward the same to the ministry of health , will be great . I don't like anyone from UC San Diego to connect with me due to the very bad service & experience . I prefer to improve your service & training your staff ."
