Reviews of Kindred Hospital Santa Ana
"Worst hospital in the county! Their negligence made my elderly mom's condition worse. They keep patients in one room with 4 patients. I highly recommend avoiding this hospital. Beware and be safe."
"I had an excellent experience with Kindred Hospital services. Their team of skilled professionals and highly-regarded doctors provided exceptional care that surpassed my expectations. While being hospitalized is never preferable to home, their attentiveness and treatment surpassed the level of care I could have received in my home, which was exactly what I needed. Nothing could beat the around the clock health care and daily doctor visits. Kindred played a vital part in my recovery process during a difficult period in my health journey. I will definitely recommend Kindred Hospital Santa Ana to my family and friends."
"The worst facility, do not put your loved ones here. My father was here for about 2 months and I can tell you, the staff doesn’t not care about the patients. I had to come to the facility every single day to advocate for my father’s needs. First of all, they were all blinded by confirmation bias and believed my father had ALS. After he died, it was confirmed he never had ALS. They treated him like he was a patient who couldn’t get better. If I was not there every single day to advocate for him, they wouldn’t take care of him. My father was on a trach and couldn’t speak and his back had extreme compression to the point where he couldn’t move his arms. There were several instances when I would come a little later in the day and my dad had been sitting in his defecation for 40 minutes or longer. He would call them and they would respond on the call button but since my dad couldn’t speak, he couldn’t articulate his needs if he was alone. Rather than just coming to the room to see what he wanted, as we had several tools in the room to assist with his communication. This is just one example of how awful they were to my dad. Another is he explicitly ask to only be treated with Tylenol or ibuprofen for pain and they constantly pushed harder medications on him. I always had to push them to leave him alone and respect his wishes. There was an instance where I was not there with him, and his room mate had to be his advocate for him and had to be stern with the staff on my fathers behalf. You can tell everyone (aside from most of the respiratory and PT teams) here works simply to get a paycheck. When we toured this facility, we were filled with empty promises and lies. If my family would have known the level of mistreatment and disrespect was going to be our experience, we would have never sent him here."
"“I was very pleased with my experience having my mother at Kinred hospital. I can be a hard critic of emergency care places and the people employed by them. This time was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. It was good to have my mother treated with professionalism and care. When I say the doctor and all the other employees of Kinred hospital Doctors, nurse’s Care made my mother feel she was in safe hands. A big thank you to all of them.” Specially Princess,Luz,cici"
"If you find yourself or a loved one here please read. My mother was unfortunately transferred to this facility and stayed for over a month. This stay included family having to repeatedly request contact with her primary MD that was assigned to her at this hospital. In the over month and half she stayed here we never met him. Other experiences included finding my mother cold & soaked in urine, had to take it up to the director or nursing, CEO and other upper management to ask for position changes every 2 hours, narcotic overuse (my mother was verbal, denied being in pain and RN still gave oxycodone) being ignored by nursing staff when an IV was infiltrated, nurses unable to contact the primary physician for DAYS which is completely unsafe and negligent and a hospital acquired infection that required an ICU transfer and antibiotics for 2 weeks. There is also a severe lack of professionalism by staff including nurses and doctors. For example, nurses coming in the room and not explaining what medications were being given, taking PERSONAL phone calls in front of patients and families in the patient room, ignoring family concerns when there was a change in a patients condition. Doctor's not returning pages by both family and staff, not washing their hands before and after touching a patient, flipping up a patient gown without concern for female modesty while looking at a g-tube, not including family or patient in a plan of care. Being told by the house supervisor that he no longer wanted to hear what we had to say when voicing safety concerns and kicked out of his office. Cleanliness standards leave much to be desired. There was old crusty feeding tube formula on IV poles, urine catheter containers being stored under roommate's ventilator table, reusing the same g tube syringe for weeks. I've been an RN for over 10 years and am saddened by how poorly my mother was treated even with advocating for her and having family present everyday. I have never seen such disrespect and lack of compassion. I felt like I was constantly working everytime I was there instead of visiting with my mother. I should have never had to meet with a house supervisor, director or nursing, head of the patient advocate department and the CEO to voice our safety concerns."
