"Recently, I encountered a frustrating billing issue with Washington Hospital in Fremont that has significantly impacted my view of their administrative processes. Despite my insurance's Explanation of Benefits (EOB) clearly stating my responsibility, the hospital has consistently billed me an additional $200. Over the last six months, I have made numerous attempts to resolve this discrepancy through their billing department, but to no avail. Moreover, the situation escalated when the hospital threatened to send this disputed charge to collections, adding undue stress and potential harm to my credit over a charge which is incorrect. This experience has highlighted a lack of transparency and fairness in their billing practices, which is deeply concerning. I hope my review can prompt Washington Hospital to reevaluate their billing procedures and communication, ensuring no other patient has to undergo a similar ordeal."
"“While the nursing staff at Washington hospital showed exceptional dedication and care during the delivery, making the experience wonderful and Indian food is great here. The facility could benefit from attention to certain areas. The state of the bathrooms, lacking hot water and in need of remodeling, detracted from an otherwise positive experience. Additionally, the transition to older rooms post-delivery wasn’t ideal. Furthermore, the billing process, expected to be straightforward, became a surprise with its weekly presentation of bills. Bills seems to be unlimited."
"The ER is incredibly terrible. If you aren’t dead already they will kill you - either physically or financially. They have major quality of care issues - releasing patients when they shouldn’t be released against common medical protocols. And their billing department cannot seem to get health insurance correct. I have to call multiple different lines and numbers to get them to bill insurance. You can give them insurance in the ER and they will go and bill the wrong insurance. Once they had an open bill for 2yrs and I called them to give insurance information 3 times. By that time they said it was past timeline, and call insurance and take care of my billing myself. Wow. Now days we just drive to Stanford. It’s worth the 30min drive. Such a pity that the only PPO ER in Fremont is this place. Kaiser has a better ER and they are HMO."
"First off, I want to emphasize some important things about the Washington Hospital Birthing experience here in case people don't read the full review: 1.) Breast-Feeding First Hospital Washington Hospital is a breast-feeding first hospital and they will highly encourage (at times maybe push) for this way of feeding for the newborn. In case you already know you don't want this specific method, you should probably search another hospital that is more alternative friendly to formula or expressing milk from pumping into a bottle. 2.) Natural Delivery (not officially stated) Based on my experience, they also highly prefer doing a natural delivery if at all possible rather than going for a c-section. Of course they will make the right call if there is a high-risk of natural delivery issues but they will try their best to give a natural delivery if they can. 3.) No Nursery (only NICU - neonatal intensive care unit) For safety reasons, they have gotten rid of their general nursery (no chance of accidentally switching the baby with another as well as more bonding time with the baby). As such, keep in mind that your baby will be with you at all times even when you are exhausted and need a break. If you prefer a hospital with a general nursery so you can rest, you should also look elsewhere. FULL REVIEW (more detailed breakdown): [[ Parking ]] Although they have ample parking and overflow lots in the adjacent street, the actual parking lot in front of the hospital/birthing center is small and tight in size. If you happen to go at a busy time, you definitely will not find parking and this can be stress-inducing if your wife is already feeling contractions. They do have a drop-off / pick-up area but I did not find the overall parking situation great. I hope they are able to expand out their parking lot in the future in front of the main entrance to relieve stress. [[ Security ]] There is a security check-in and bag inspection before even getting to the 2nd floor birthing area. When the baby is born, they will also be geo-tagged to make sure they are not taken out of the hospital without permission and they are very careful around this area. [[ Labor & Delivery Staff, Security, Postpartum Staff, Doctors ]] Overall, I would like to say most of the staff here are extremely caring and very supportive. They would check-in often to see how things are going and I believe genuinely love their jobs and babies as well. The staff that helped us were all parents themselves and can relate to what we are going through and always gave tips on what to do in the future in order to have an easier time. Keep in mind, a variety of staff (nurse, lab staff, doctors) will be in and out at various times so expect a TON of traffic into your room. On the whiteboard in your room, you will have a dedicated nurse and a supervisor (in case you can't reach your nurse) with their numbers to dial in case you need help. They all have shifts so the staff will change often after their shift is over and you will get a new staff to help you. [[ Facilities ]] Before you are officially admitted, you will first go to a holding room for a while to make sure the labor and delivery is actually coming soon. After that, they will move you to your permanent room. The permanent room is decently sized and the pull out-bed couch for me was long enough (I'm 5' 11'' and fit well). We overpacked since we had no idea what we needed but I was able to fit my medium sized luggage, two backpacks, a duffel, and various other blankets/pillows without too much issue. See picture for a general idea of what it looks like. The only downside I think of the room is the bathroom/shower area. It's VERY small and I only used the shower once since I thought it was uncomfortable. I'm not sure how someone who just delivered a baby can comfortably use the shower without feeling cramped. Hopefully it will get a remodel soon?"
