"We stayed for President's Day weekend in February 2024 as a surprise bday getaway from the hubs. The rooms were clean, comfortable, warm, and felt like home. The little touches here and there, like the tampons in the bathroom, Bluetooth connection to the bumping speakers in the living room and the comfy bed sheets made it feel inviting. We didn't want to leave. We preferred this location over staying in downtown Julian since it can get crowded and seems like you get more property than the usual bed and breakfast room. I would not recommend this property for small children as it has stairs that I myself had to be careful, especially at night when using the bathroom. It has no TV as it's a cabin like feel but has central air. The area felt safe, quiet, would love to stay here again."
"This review is in regards to the vintage trailers. Pinecrest is a beautiful location, and the vintage trailers have a lot of potential. We stayed in September and it definitely was very hot. I wish that all of the trailers had AC. I was disappointed to learn that the trailers don't lock from the outside. They tell you to keep your valuables in your car. A. This is inconvenient, B. I am not sure if the spartan locked from the inside either. I feel like the locks are something that they should definitely invest in fixing. The spartan also has a very small water heater. I think that they told us 2 gallons when we called. I couldn't even get through a shower without it running out. We called because we thought maybe it could be fixed but they let us know the water heater is small but they have public showers available. Since it was hot I toughed it out. My brother stayed in the mansion and it had a bad smell in it. It bothered his girlfriend a lot. They did have AC and their hot water was fine. Their trailer also did not lock from the outside. The trailers are cute, and we liked the vintage decor but they need some work done. I feel like their trailers have a lot of potential if they would just invest in them a bit. My husband and I stayed at another location that had vintage trailers. They were definitely nicer. AC, hot water, new linoleum, locks and keys, and did not have a bad smell. I hope that pinecrest can improve their vintage trailers. I think that if they improved them they would have a lot more return business."
"We stayed in the 1959 Safeway and had an awesome time. Everyone there was super cool, it was affordable and our trailer was incredible. Beautiful location and so much to do in Julian. The pool was great and our twelve year old made new friends. I highly recommend Pinecrest."
"Pinecrest Retreat was a perfect weekend escape for my boyfriend and I (plus our dog). We rented the Traveleze and it was adorable. The camper was clean and provided enough room for us to comfortably cook, eat, sleep and hangout in between hikes. We would definitely come back again!"
"My family and I rented out the Star Trailer and had an amazing time at Pinecrest Retreat. The trailer was immaculately clean and it was well stocked with towels, linens/pillows, kitchen utensils, BBQ utensils, and dishes. The trailer itself is from 1951 and was beautifully restored and decorated with super cute vintage decor. The beds were comfortable and we loved the Webber BBQ that came with our camping spot. We had great days in the gorgeous pool and loved that pool toys, pool floats, even PFD's were provided for the kids. The pool lounge chairs were also comfy. My kids loved getting ice-cream at the snack bar and checking out the clubhouse. They have horseshoe pits, tent camping, hiking trails, and tons of firewood for sale. The bathrooms and showers were clean and in great working order. We will for sure be making Pinecrest Retreat an annual camping destination for our family for many years to come."
