Reviews of Gaslamp Hostel San Diego
"The location is right in the middle of Gaslamp district or i should say really centered. In terms of the property, it is easily reachable, the idea of having separate toilets and shower rooms is neat but i think they are less in numbers, there is mostly a waiting line at the peak time like mornings or evenings. Free snack breakfast, which is coffee, musli, milk etc.. Outside is nosiy throughout the night and morning, also in the rooms with windows closed, one could hear the outside crowd going crazy, but it is how it is. The metal bunkbeds weren't super comfortable and were noisy. Super friendly staff."
"Such a nice place, such a great experience. Clean hostel, friendly staff, cool events almost every evening. Highly recommended. Thank you guys!"
"First off, let's talk about cleanliness because, let's face it, nobody wants to stay in a grubby place. The bathrooms here are newly renovated and spotless! I swear they must have cleaning fairies flitting around every half hour because they were always gleaming. But it's not just cleanliness that sets this place apart; it's the quirky charm that oozes from every nook and cranny. This beautiful old building is adorned with fun and funky art, each piece telling its own story adding colorful character to every corner. The staff were super friendly and helpful! I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. Whether I needed directions to the nearest taco joint or just wanted a friendly chat, the staff here went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience possible. Location is amazing - the hostel is situated smack dab in the heart of the Gaslamp District, with only a short walk to the Seaport District. The Gaslamp district is buzzing with nightlife, has incredibly delicious food, and endless entertainment options right at your doorstep, you'll never find yourself bored here. The hostel also has deals with businesses and something fun to choose from most nights. One of my favorite spots in the hostel was the cozy atrium, it really expands this place with light and plants and I loved kicking back on the couch to read my book and check my emails. I really loved my stay at this hostel. It's got personality in spades, and it's safe to say it's now at the top of my favorites list. If you're looking for a fun, funky, and unforgettable stay in San Diego, look no further – this hostel is the real deal!"
"Check in process was great, staff was super helpful and brought my parking pass out to me on the corner of the street so I could park my car right away. Overall vibe of the hostel is really cool, love the interior decor, super unique. Rooms were small but during the low season, they’re not packed full of people so it does the trick! My only real “complaint” is that there were 2 wifi networks available but neither reached my room. I guess it’s because it was closer to the back of the hostel? When I went to the front desk to ask about it, they basically told me there wasn’t really anything they could do about it so I had to use my cell phone data the whole stay when I wasn’t in the common areas… that was kind of a bummer, especially when you just want to lay in bed and chill for a bit. Otherwise, good place to stay if you’re looking to explore San Diego as it’s very central to a lot of restaurants and bars."
"Enjoyed my stay. Great location in the heart of Gaslamp Quarter. 4 person room was nice. Bed mattress was only ok, noisy and uncomfortable, maybe time for a new one. Kitchen looks a little messy or disorganized or does it just seem dark. Staff are wonderful, helpful and kind."
