"Although was eventually upgraded when asked the upgrade process didn't follow traditional Hyatt expectations. The hotel pool was not accessible when said it would be by key card by 9 am, which to me is late for morning swims. Beach is very rocky and has a falling rock sign. Offer very little classes/excursions. Although a quality hotel, not worth the sticker price."

"The spa treatments here are next level! Best massage I’ve ever had by Lavinia. They used herbs and warm towels and even a sound bowl. Kate greeted me in the spa and was super helpful and welcoming. Sarah took my booking and was so nice over the phone. Such sweet staff and good vibes. Highly recommend."

"What a beautiful, modern hotel located right at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. We stopped by the Alila today for drinks, dinner, and a visit to the spa and were all very impressed with the property. Unlike the other Alila properties in California, this location is family-friendly versus the Napa and Big Sur locations, which are adults only. We would definitely consider staying here on our next visit to the area. The property is stunning!"

"Wonderful 3 day stay just after Christmas with a family of 5 (older teens). Thought the food and service were amazing! Love the 3 areas and variety. Had a lovely room, slept with slider open because we just couldn’t get enough of the crashing waves. Truly the most restful place we stayed over our San Diego trip. Older kids loved using the e-bikes to ride into town. We took an Uber to dinner one night to downtown Encinitas. Herb and Sea was great! Dinner and breakfast at hotel was perfect. Get the loaf of bread in the bar area. I think we had 7 loaves over 3 days. It was worth every carb! We had a car as we were golfing and doing college tours, but without a car, you might feel isolated unless you love e-bikes. The beach was wild and very rocky but we found the rocks fascinating. Pool /hot tub great. The design is relaxing, though hallways seem stark, and somewhat disorienting at first because they are so neutral and modern, truly something out of a Star Wars movie, and found myself humming the music as we walked down the long halls. Would love to return, think 3 nights is the perfect amount of time. Many thanks!"
