"Stayed there last year for one night. Using a different name to write this review so as not to be verbally harrassed by the psychotic owner. Their written policy at the time stated that a stay of two nights or less would require a $200 deposit in cash OR credit card. Their credit card machine was conveniently down at the time so they required cash. However the ATM in the same lobby worked just fine. The room was ok, smelled VERY strong of cleaning chemicals. At check out, the room was "inspected" before we could receive our deposit and cash was withheld for damages that appeared to already be present (blinds not working? stain in sink? It wasn't really clear). The owner is EXTREMELY defensive about any question of policy. It just felt like a cash grab. The WIFI did not work AT ALL and the hotel parking is minimal. It's nice that some people leaving reviews were able to have a good experience and received their cash deposits back (supposedly). The bad reviews are certainly accurate though. Would. Not. Recommend. Yes I'm "still going on" because that is how AWFUL this hotel was to stay at. I was reminded of it when looking for places to stay in the area for an upcoming vacation. Don't harass OPD because you can't take criticism as a poor business owner. They have much better things to do."
"All the bad reviews are people that complain about a deposit they literally get back the next day, And more then likely it's because those are the same people that damage the rooms. This place was awesome, friendly, and very clean. I would highly recommend to anyone staying here. I definitely will be staying here again next time I'm in town"
"Updated: This hotel is a old La Quinta that DID NOT require a $200 CASH deposit. That, Jerre, Jennifer, is a scam. No explanation as to why you need to do that. Best Western next door does NOT require CASH. Read the critical reviews about your place and take it to heart. I'm happy to participate in a class action law suit against The Hotel, Oceanside, for your discriminatory policies. Looking forward to that. Your ADA policy, as defined by Jennifer, is illegal. What don't you understand? Anyone posting a critical review will be demeaned, insulted, and called a liar. Cash deposit is unheard of. Check around. Closest nice hotel, Best Western, accepts deposit on credit card. No problem. This hotel requires cash as it cannot be disputed with a credit card company. Front desk has authority to cancel a reservation for no reason other than they don't like the guest checking in. Question hotel policy and get cancelled. Jennifer, manager, turns all concerns into personal attacks. Worst policy is her unwillingness to accept ADA service animals. Front desk told me I needed to talk to Jennifer about my service animal. I left 2 emails, got no response. I stated I am a combat wounded Marine. No response. She'll accept pet fees but nothing else. Check reviews. Critical reviews say the same thing. If you have problems, you are on your own -- and will probably lose your cash deposit of $200. Stay at Best Western. It's a nicer hotel and professional with guests. Esp. ADA recipients."
"Great location, comfy beds, nice attentive staff. Those should not be overlooked at this price point. That said, I specifically booked a suite (315) that's advertised on the website as having a balcony. It does not. Very disappointing. That was what I was most excited about. The blinds on both windows do not have the little pole to twist to close so I have to manually push them down or up to open or close them. The desk was aware of the issue and said it will be fixed on Tuesday so maybe I just came in after an unruly guest yanked them both off. Not the end of the world. Ants crawled out from the top of the air conditioner when my girlfriend turned it on. She obviously wasn't stoked, but I just killed most of them with toilet paper, then alerted the desk and they promptly had housekeeping come up with Raid. Overall their suite is still a better deal than a lot of standard rooms in the area, but it's not as sweet as I was expecting."
