Hotel Pacific Manhattan Beach

"The reviews on here really put me off but a last minute extra night in LA meant picking the cheapest option and honestly I wasn't dissapointed. I am wondering about people's expectations though- you are in LA on major highway, there will be noise; I was near to the front though and it wasn't excessive. The building is old and so is a lot of the furniture so everything could use a big deep clean but it is not dirty, it's all very sanitary. The pool was covered because it is winter (crazy to me because it is not that cold to me but super normal). The breakfast nook is your standard budget accommodation affair, the iconic waffle machine, packet pastries, cereal and toast (bagels was an excellent surprise); you can eat it at the bench nearby or take it back to your room. (A good deep clean/replacing of the old things would have gotten 5 stars)."

"Dirty, excessively humid, and foul-smelling rooms. The floor wasn't even vacuumed. We didn’t sleep well because the room had a bad smell. When we opened the window, there was too much loud street noise. We checked out immediately in the morning. In the middle of the night, we had no chance to change hotels, and we were so tired due to a long trip. Therefore, we lay down to sleep for a few hours, then checked out early in the morning. I have never encountered such a dirty, stinky, and disgusting hotel in my life. I would not recommend it to others, especially families traveling with kids. Everything is dirty and disgusting. This hotel might be completely mold-infested."

"One of the best 2-star hotels I stayed. Rooms are spacious and bathroom is marble and up to date nice! Fresh light breakfast every morning with hot, strong coffee. Staff are friendly. Fridge in every room but microwave outside in common area for all to share. That's the only bad thing"

"My Dad was stayed here for 2 weeks and we had an awful experience. There is a reason this hotel is so cheap. Firstly, we immediately found multiple bed bugs in the room. After reporting it to the front desk we asked to switch rooms. The reply was 'sorry we're fully booked' which was a blatant lie. We even checked online and found rooms were still available to book for that night. The solution to the bed bugs was 'we will clean the room'. Upon our return it was obvious the room had not been cleaned. In order to get rid of bed bugs you need to fumigate the entire room anyway. The floor wasn't even vacuumed. The following morning we complained again and we were given a new room. As we were moving my Dad's belongings to the new room we were told to hurry by the front desk staff as the cleaners were about to finish their shift. The new room wasn't much of an improvement. There was a crack in the window which was sealed up with tape. The smoke detector alarm had been ripped off the ceiling and the shower was cold. The list continues- the hotel is advertised as having a pool, but the pool seems to have been sealed over and replaced with a few chairs. The elevator was out of order. The breakfast room pictured no longer exists, instead breakfast is served in a small room with nowhere to sit. One night a homeless person was sleeping on a communal outdoor sofa. Even when we checked out we had to wait 15 minutes for a member of staff to turn up. Staying at Hotel Pacific Manhattan Beach really was a miserable experience and I would not recommend it to anyone. The only plusses is the location which is close to both the LAX airport and beach, and the low price. But beware- you get what you pay for."

"Was really hoping for more from this hotel. I stayed here a total of 4 nights over 3 different stays in the second half of 2023. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and the location is hard to beat. The first room I got, the front door would not close properly, and I had to get another room. Another time, a whole side of the bed and bedsheet were still wet and had not been dried properly. More often than not, there would be a problem with the room. Also, Everytime I stayed here, the waffle maker was broken. My stays were over a month apart and I was never able to use the waffle maker. Outside of that, there is not much else they offer for their breakfast. This place has potential if they pay attention to the details"
