About the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge
The Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge, also known as the Carquinez Bridge, is a stunning suspension bridge located on Interstate 80 in Vallejo, California. This tourist attraction replaced the original Carquinez Bridge in 2003 and now carries westbound vehicular traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians across the Carquinez Strait.
Named after Bay Area ironworker Al Zampa, who helped construct the original bridge, the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge offers a unique experience for visitors to learn about the history and significance of this iconic structure. The institution also provides information on the Bay Area's proposed regional bond measure to invest in affordable housing, as well as updates on the long-range regional plan, Plan Bay Area 2050.
Visitors can explore vehicle traffic and public transit ridership numbers, as well as learn about the various programs and services offered by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). Whether you're interested in the engineering marvel of the bridge or the social impact of transportation in the Bay Area, the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge is a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike.

Reviews of Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge
"Nice view of the bay on one side"
"It seems to work with allowing motorcraft to drive across. 5 stars"
"Walked across and back! Beautiful views, then went to Port Costa & shopped and had drinks. Excellent day!"
"It’s like a Golden Gate Bridge / Bay Bridge hybrid. The light on the bridge is beautiful in the evenings and at sunset. One helluva bridge."
"Fastrak required or $5 CASH ONLY TOLL. No cards accepted & unlike Golden Gate, you won't be able to "pay-by-license plate" for one-time use on the Fastrak website. The attendant will hand you a toll violation flyer ($25 fine). The violation will be sent to the registered vehicle owners address & you can either pay the fine, or open a Fastrak account where the violation fee will then be waived for the first violation only. It's the quickest way to "Wine Country" (Napa & Sonoma) from the East Bay. If you're not familiar traversing the Bay Area, I can see how it can be problematic. I never carry cash, although while living here, I became accustomed to ensuring I always had toll money on hand, just in case, because it's happened to me. So, rule of thumb if you're traveling to the Bay; always have toll money because it's called the Bay Area for a reason."
