About the Alhecama Theatre
The Alhecama Theatre, located in downtown Santa Barbara, California, is a historic venue within the El Presidio de Santa Bárbara State Historic Park. Originally built in 1925 as the Pueblo Theatre, this beautifully restored facility now serves as a versatile space for weddings, lectures, social gatherings, and theatre events. With its original oak floors, stage, and a mural by artist Ross Dickenson, the Alhecama Theatre offers a unique and charming atmosphere for any occasion.
Originally used for drama, music, and dance classes at the Santa Barbara School of the Arts, the theatre was later purchased by Alice Schott in 1939 and renamed after her daughters. Over the years, it has been utilized by various educational programs and institutions, eventually becoming part of the State of California's historic preservation efforts in 1982.
If you are interested in renting the Alhecama Theatre for your event, you can review the rental agreement and associated fees on the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) website. To secure your reservation, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required, with the remaining balance, security deposit, and proof of insurance due at least 60 days before your event. Whether you submit your forms and payments in person, by mail, or online, the Alhecama Theatre promises a memorable and historic setting for your special occasion.

Reviews of Alhecama Theatre
"Saw a very good documentary here, comfortable set up. Nice event space in a historic feeling building. Outdoor space is pleasant."
"Nice, small, and local art theatre."
"Lovely theatre, super great chairs, a bit too cold though."
"My experience at ahoecama theatre was amazing I will never forget it."
"I like this old theater. We've been using it for the past year for the Opera Santa Barbara rehearsals. The acoustics are a little off, making it somewhat difficult to hear the other voices, but it's a spacious rehearsal venue with facilities and an area in front. Street parking is difficult, however, so I recommend the paid lot across the street from Zaytoon's restaurant there on Canon Perdido."
