"The fees make it more expensive than other places, you're better off going to a better hotel with more amenities and bigger rooms. Online it was advertised as 72 but 115 after daily resort fees. Other nicer places in the area are 110 with no fees. No bar or restaurant or shop to get drinks/snacks. Not the safest location, no garage, closest one is a few blocks over and not the best walk at night. The free breakfast is just cereal, croissants, yogurt and coffee from a machine. Staff seems very bothered by their work, didn't really like asking anyone for help. Rooms are tiny, but you know that when booking. They do have phone booths, a good gym and bikes to borrow in the hotel."
"I do not recommend using this hotel for several reasons: 1. Uncomfortable rooms ("sky rooms"); 2. Poor "breakfasts"; 3. Unreasonable withdrawal of funds from the deposit for using the minibar, which was not even in my room! This is not acceptable; 4. The hotel is located in the worst district of San Francisco. The staff does not respond to my complaints about erroneous withdrawals. They say that "they found two empty water bottles in my room." At the same time, they knew perfectly well that there was no minibar in my room, and there could be no use of it. Thus, I regard such actions of the hotel staff as petty fraud. P.S. Eventually, extra funds were paid back on my card. Thanks."
"I stayed here for Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference because they were a hotel option to buy while purchasing conference tickets. While the hotel itself is good, the atmosphere around the hotel makes it a no-go for me. I’m not the type of person to be automatically scared just because there are strangers around, but this area was fairly unsettling as a solo young woman. First, the good. If the area were to improve, my review would change drastically. The rooms are small but they were clean and cozy, that’s all I needed. The building is nice and secure with helpful staff. I looked forward to the latte machine and breakfast burrito every morning - they were delicious! They have bag drop so I could leave my bags after checking out to explore the city. It was very easy to drop off and pick up. The bad - I arrived on the metro around midnight and was shocked by the amount of people loitering around the block, at least 80. The hotel is just one block away from the metro so I had a short way to lug my suitcase around. There were multiple police cars parked around the area every night with their lights on so while I felt mostly safe, I also know that means that the area is probably not safe when the police are not there. I shared an Uber with coworkers later in the week and when I realized we were going to pass my hotel, I asked to be let off there - the driver asked if I was sure because the area isn’t safe. I also asked some friends that live in the city and they said the area is well known to have heavy homeless/drug activity. I got very poor sleep because I was woken several times each night by either people yelling outside or the police chirping their sirens. If you stay here and aren’t a heavy sleeper, bring earbuds to drown out the noise. I was uneasy enough to cancel the things I had planned to do at night - there are lots of social events that go on after Dreamforce but I didn’t want to be walking alone at night here, especially after having a few drinks."
"There was an issue with the key cards that locked me out of my own room. Hotel staff said it was because the person in my room had the lock activated, but this was not the case. It was 3:00am and no one was available to fix the issue. The hotel staff offered to sell me another room at a discounted rate ($100). I declined and kept knocking until I woke up the person in my room. They did not have the lock activated like the hotel staff said. This key issue was extremely frustrating. Hotel staff was nice. The room was small. Aside from a questionable stain on the triangle window couch, the room was clean. Due to the key card issue I would not stay here again or recommend it."
"Overall: Be aware that this is a Japanese style hotel. Which means that it's completely self-service. They don't even have a front desk, you check in on a tablet, kind of like when you check-in by yourself at the airport. At first, I was weirded-out by this, but I grew to really like it. I prefer not having staff hovering over me. If you like your hand held, it's not the place for you. Staff: Amazing. Super nice people- very helpful. Always someone in the lobby to help if you need. Location: Be aware, this hotel is right smack in the middle of the current heroin epidemic going on in SF (this is Sep, 2023). If this makes you squeamish, you will not want to stay here. Drug users surround the hotel in the evenings. Lots of police around as well. Rooms: Because it's japan-style, the rooms are very sparse and small. I kind of liked it. But, if you need space, find a different hotel. Amenities: There is a lounge with a coffee machine and they have free muffins in the morning. Gym available 24 hours."
