"Built like a bunker, quiet and serene with spa level hydrobath; a tad quirky. A relaxing experience any time of the year. Our suite had an in room fireplace and gorgeous views of the Gualala River, estuary and the ocean. Just a pleasure. Shall return."
"First and foremost, go over to St. Orres, with friendly service, beautiful woodsy views, and free high fashion breakfast included. We came here for our honeymoon, and booked well over six months in advance. Our first impression was struggling to get someone on the phone or not be hung up on. If we received a person we were rushed or cut off continually throughout the conversation, I'm unsure how someone made the reservation. It was mostly forgotten about until coming up, where we tried to confirm and had to play phone tag, same as before six months ago. We get there and check in okay, and get to the room. We initially find a nice tub, but just a flat sheet, not fitted, and barely big enough to cover the bed. As well the AC was not working, and the sauna we paid extra for was non-functional. When asked what to do about it, we were given an attitude as if we shouldn't have asked, they had said that no hotel has fitted sheets. The manager came in the next morning to check, and confirmed that yes it was broken, like the other sauna, but wouldn't do anything about it. This is with six months notice for them to fix it before we arrived earlier. So no sauna, no ac, and almost no lighting and so far terrible service. On top of all of that, we found old trash from previous stays, lack of cleaning, barely the surfaces wiped, and without any sort of AC the room was 87 degrees during the day and only 75 maybe at night. The only other thing, the walls are so thin you hear everyone, everywhere, and the luxury suits are in the basement, you'll be woken by anyone around you. From the reply from the owner. There were three people on staff during our stay. We had a receptionist, the cleaner person, and the manager came in on our second day to review and see about our claim. We had come and checked out the sauna, him and myself together. We both conclude that the sauna wasn't working, specifically the rod on the dial for the timer wasn't connected, that or an electrical breaker. He was going to move us to the only other room with a sauna, but that one as well was broken. He said he would put it on his list and order the parts. It could have been over nighted and fixed, but we were not given a second thought after he concluded it was broken. I now only write this to tell others to be careful here, we had this reservation for six months prior, and to be given a place in such a poor state should not be acceptable."
"I stayed here for 5 weeks while traveling for work. Absolutely loved the location, The views and the esthetic and cleanliness of the rooms were great. My only issue is that there are things like water damage and peeling paint that the hotel doesn't seem to be fixing. It seems like these things have been the way they are for a long time. Another issue is that the construction of the glass showers didn't include a door in most of the rooms that I stayed in, and water was always puddled on the floor outside when I got out of the shower. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Seems like poor design. I hope they spend the off-season fixing the damage in the rooms and I do plan to return here on a vacation with my family sometime in the future because the balconies and the views were fantastic. The coastline in this area is some of the best anywhere in California."
"The best part of staying here was of course the view which was nature made. The next best was the huge jet tub which worked and fit me and my 6’ tall hubby-much needed relaxation. It goes a bit downhill from there. Bed was uncomfortable, weird chemical smell (admittedly I am a bit sensitive), outdated decor, two windows without blinds-so you’re forced to be up with the sun or wear a sleep mask. I forgot my sleep mask, so I used my favorite T-shirt and sadly forgot it in the bed. The hotel person I talked to about getting it returned sounded rushed. I described what I left and which room we were in. She said, “you left a bunch of stuff in the drawers.” I said, “we didn’t use the drawers”, then instead of clarifying the contents with me, she hurriedly asked me for my address and said they would send us what they found. Package arrives and it’s none of our stuff. I loved the location but I didn’t feel it was worth the price honestly. You might like it and consider yourself warned about the downsides."
"Rolled into Gualala super late after watching the sun go down at Point Arena and making terrible time into town without a real plan on where to stay. Most hotels were closed, but by some stroke of luck Hotel Breakers night auditor Bryn was still at the front desk. The room was more expensive than I usually like to spend for a single nights stay, but waking up to a great view of the ocean and spacious, well appointed, digs more than made up for the extra expense."
