Reviews
"I used to see movies here as a teenager in the 90s. It's trapped in time. I have gone twice in the last 6 months, and both times in theater 6. It was the EXACT SAME as it was in the 90s. Very old, uncomfortable seats. No leg room at all. Almost impossible to get out of your seat and squeeze past people's legs, I was clawing my way to the bathroom on the backs of the row in front of me, barely touching the floor, it was so cramped. Small screen and basic sound system. When I went on a hot October day, there was no AC and it was stifling, like watching a movie in a sauna. The escalator to the top floor was broken as well, but it was fixed on my recent visit in March. The AC was on full blast in the restroom though. So they do have AC in the building.. I only go here if there's something I really want to see that isn't playing at the Metreon. Otherwise, pay a few dollars extra and go downtown to the modern theater."
"Amazing experience at AMC Kabuki in Japantown. They have great big screens and comfortable seats that go all the way back. Loved the movie. However, two things that I disliked were the unhygienic washrooms and the sound quality which was very low for us."
"Great option for seeing movies in the city. The chairs were comfortable, plenty of padding and adjusted to the right angle so that your neck isn't uncomfortable. There is a parking garage under the mall structure so should be just fine to park and get to the theater quickly. There were a lot of ads and trailers at the start, maybe 20-30 minutes worth. Alamo Drafthouse is probably still the top mark theater in the city, but this is a great option if you're close."
"This is one of my favorite theaters in SF because of the location, but they no longer validate parking. I probably won't be back because of it, it simply doesn't make sense to pay for parking that's almost the cost of the ticket. I'm not sure why AMC doesn't cover parking validation and I hope they bring it back."
"Popular movie theater in Japantown. It boasts several modern theaters across 3 levels, featuring comfortable seats and excellent sound systems. We visited on a weekday evening and found it wise to have purchased our tickets online beforehand, as all theaters seemed busy. While waiting, we enjoyed drinks at the top-floor bar, which were very good."
